Starting pay: $18/hr

Schedule: Mon-Fri

Position Summary:

Box Scalers are responsible for weighing of  beef, pork, lamb, veal, and seafood products ensuring all boxes and packages are labeled correctly for either stock or customer’s orders.

Essential Functions:

  • Weighs and labels boxes and packages in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Follows company standardized pack specifications along with any customer specified deviations as communicated through special instructions via work orders/cut tickets. 

  • Accurately reads and comprehends all customer specific special instructions.  

  • Performs Quality control checks and communicates with supervisors and managers regarding any defects.

  • Inspects meat products for defects, bruises or blemishes.

  • Offers assistance to other team members.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Must have ability to read, write and communicate in English.  

  • Must be able to work independently or within a team environment.  

  • Solves routine problems of limited scope and complexity following established policies and procedures.  

  • Employees in all warehouse positions must be able to immediately perceive auditory warning signals such as bells, alarms, and horns that are used to warn employees of the start-up, movement, or approach of equipment (including forklifts, turrets, overhead cranes, conveyors, trucks, and other equipment operated inside or outside the warehouse), mechanical abnormalities, and similar risk situations during warehouse operations.

  • Must have working knowledge of production equipment.

  • Must be able to understand and follow all Food Safety Guidelines and Occupational Safety Guidelines .
