Job Summary:

Partners with and provides operational support to management and HR business partners regarding diversity, equal employment, and affirmative action programs in keeping with UMMC objectives and which ensure compliance with current legal requirements. Works with management and HR business partners to align and drive key equal employment opportunity strategies, initiatives, and programs.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in human resources, administration/management labor relations, or related field and four (4) years of experience in the administration of equal employment opportunity policies, processes, and programs or an equivalent combination of education/experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of equal employment opportunity laws, programs, issues, and trends. Knowledge of employment law and regulations.  Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal, customer service, and presentation skills. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Analytical, investigative, and problem resolution skills. Ability to interpret and explain laws, rules, policies, and regulations. Ability to work with diverse populations and across organizational lines. Ability to develop and implement diversity and equal employment opportunity initiatives and programs. Ability to analyze and interpret information and statistical data. Ability to resolve personal problems or grievances and/or worker or management conflicts.

Responsibilities

  • Provides equal employment opportunity and affirmative action consultation and operational support to management, HR business partners, and client groups.
  • Works with HR business partners and client groups to ensure compliance with federal, state, and UMMC equal employment opportunity laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Processes complaints and prepares material for use before administrative or judicial proceedings. Interfaces with employees, supervisors, and administrators regarding job-related problems and concerns; investigates and recommends courses of action for resolution of problems and concerns.
  • Collaborates in the implementation of diversity and equal employment opportunity programs. Remains current on diversity and equal employment opportunity issues, initiatives and legislative or regulatory requirements.
  • Implements policies, procedures and practices governing diversity and equal employment opportunity programs in accordance with UMMC objectives and federal and state legal requirements.
  • Compiles and submits required affirmative action program and equal employment opportunity (AAP/EEO) statistical reports. Works with management, business partners, and client groups to develop and/or assesses the effectiveness of equal employment opportunity initiatives and programs.
