As a Lead UX Designer, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing user experiences that empower our traders and quantitative researchers to excel. You’ll create intuitive, responsive, and impactful user interfaces that streamline workflows and decision-making processes. This role is ideal for a designer who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys solving complex problems. You’ll embed yourself with users and software engineers to iteratively improve user interfaces. Taking a pragmatic approach, you define good UX design as delivering tangible results. Ideally, you have a vision for how to build a community of UX professionals within the company.

Your Core Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with traders, quantitative researchers, and engineers to design user interfaces that support and enhance trading workflows.
  • Conduct both qualitative and quantitative user research to deeply understand user needs, workflows, and priorities.
  • Translate complex requirements into intuitive designs, ensuring seamless user interaction and a consistent user experience.
  • Lead the creation and evolution of design systems, frameworks, and methodologies within the organization.
  • Advocate for user-centered design practices and usability testing throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Work with the overall engineering organization to ensure designs are feasible, scalable, and well-implemented.
  • Reconcile conflicting feedback and propose alternative solutions where necessary to meet user and business goals.
  • Define and drive a UX vision and strategy that aligns with organizational objectives.
  • Use quantitative metrics to inform iterative improvements in design and functionality.
  • Travel to IMC's offices to build a growing community of UX professionals.

Your Skills and Experience: 

  • 5+ years of experience in User Interface, Interaction and Experience Design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your ability to design for complex systems and workflows.
  • Preferably at big tech companies or in the high-tech sector is preferred
  • Expertise in conducting user research, including interviews, analytics, and usability testing.
  • Proficiency in wireframing, prototyping, and creating design documentation.
  • Familiarity with common UI frameworks: React, Angular, Vue, Svelte.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • An engineering mindset that prioritizes simplicity, scalability, and robustness in design.
  • Knowledge of the financial and trading domain is a plus, but eagerness to learn and adapt to this dynamic field is essential.
  • Ability to manage stakeholders, balance competing priorities, and maintain focus on delivering user-centric solutions.
