Position Description:

The candidate will be responsible for managing a team of 4, supporting Asia Investment Operations functions which include Asia onboarding, cash/liquidity management, collateral margining, asset set up,

derivatives confirmation, claims oversight & management, coordination of portfolio transition events, and account management teams servicing.

The position involves daily interaction with Portfolio Managers/Traders, Trade Compliance, Client Facing Professionals, Back Office Operations, Custodian Banks and Brokers. The role also requires direct interfacing with Asia Middle Office, Asia Project Management & Change teams and other teams located both regionally and globally.

This position requires assertiveness, acute attention to details, and an aptitude for managing multiple competing priorities with minimal oversight or direction. Additionally, this position requires agility in a challenging and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Daily Tasks:

  • Manage the Asia Investment Operations team to ensure all the daily BAU/checklist tasks are completed
  • Work with major stakeholders (Trade floor, Account Management, L&C, Technology) to manage all trade floor and clients related items in the region
  • Address and resolve different types of inquires related to the team’s functions from both internal and external teams / stakeholders in the region
  • Manage external vendor oversight

Ad-Hoc:

  • Support manager in completing any assignment related to day-to-day requests from Operations, Portfolio, or Account management teams
  • Assist manager in servicing clients’ operational queries and requests
  • Participate in client and operational due diligence meetings
  • Build strong, cohesive relationships with brokers, custodians and back-office operations to enhance process efficiencies, productivity and controls
  • Building and/or supporting the development of metric reports that pinpoint areas or risk to be presented to senior management

Position Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in the financial service industry with a solid team & people management experience
  • 4-year university degree in finance, accounting, or economics preferred. Graduate studies a plus
  • Strong team & people management experience
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills - ability to network with various departmental personnel and outside parties
  • Strong EM Asia Market knowledge and experience
  • Product knowledge in processing and settlement of various financial products (fixed income, forex, derivatives, equities)
  • Experience in managing internal stakeholders (Front Desks, AMs) and external stakeholders
  • (Custodian Banks, Brokers, outsource service providers, etc)
  • Experience in working with Bloomberg trade order management system, DTCC DS Match, MarkitWire and novation consent platforms desirable
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and MS computer applications; Experience in database
  • knowledge, SQL, Macros, Python programming knowledge will be a plus
  • Communicate strategically and effectively with all levels of staff and management
  • Be ready to roll up own sleeves and lead by example as playing manager on the ground
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Experience with MS computer applications, proficiency in Visio and Add-In applications, such as Infocube /business objects are a plus
  • Self-motivated, problem solver, detail oriented, resourceful, with the ability to think strategically on how to create and drive business led solutions
  • Strong and robust control mindset. High adaptability to new ideas, processes and control implementation
  • Mentor junior members of the team providing coaching & training
  • Ability to work effectively with local and global teams
  • Lead and drive in issues resolution and projects initiatives  
  • Fluency in English, proficiency in Chinese Mandarin (both written and verbal) is a plus
