Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Program Growth and Innovation
Develop and implement a strategic plan that will propel the Professional Development office as a national leader in continuing education. Develop program streams and communication that will not only attract new markets but promote repeat participation. Key growth areas should include:
Best practices and emerging research that supports the professional growth of social workers, social policy, and public health professional (with special attention to the needs of a growing audience with the new School of Public Health).
Topical areas that align with the mission and strengths of the Brown School (including DEIA, evidence based clinical practices, AI applications, and more).
In person and digital market expansion to locations with high numbers of alumni.
Expansion of program types that offer and support a learning experience (from one-off workshops through to advanced opportunities).
Program Oversight and Leadership
Financial Management and Program Sustainability
Collaboration
Develop collaborative programming with other units of the school and the university, as well as community partners.
Within the School:
Increase the sustainability of advanced professional development offerings by building a pool of content developers and program facilitators.
Partner with faculty and research centers to both support their work and increase access to their innovative research among the professional community, by sponsoring continuing education units, cross promoting, and providing dissemination platforms.
Partner with faculty leads to develop new/more ways to offer dual-audience (academic and professional) programming that will increase revenue, expand opportunities for the professional community, and ensure a breadth of curricular areas are available to our students.
Within the University:
Identify opportunities with central university departments to streamline processes and systems to create more efficiency.
Co-develop/sponsor programming when appropriate with the continuing education arms of other schools within Washington University.
Strategically work with staff and faculty leading and supporting the development of the new School of Public Health to determine and support continuing education needs.
Within the Community:
Increase awareness of Brown School Professional Development offerings among a variety of community organizations
Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean for External Affairs.
