The Senior Manager, Resource Planning and Management delivers business operations and resource management support services in support of the Pfizer Oncology Division (POD). Also responsible for contributing to the achievement of POD’s business strategies and goals by partnering with applicable business/resource managers and senior leaders across POD and applying functional/technical expertise to enable and enhance operational performance through effective forecasting, planning & management of organizational resources.
Job Responsibilities:
Drives improved resource management capabilities and decision-making processes through the delivery of robust business systems, tools, processes, and data. Manages essential resource information/data and provides essential functional and technical support services enabling Annual Operating Plan processes.
Provides essential technical and functional expertise contributing to the FTE Tracking (Activity Tracker) and Resource Planning & Forecasting (RAPID) resource management programs for the business lines
Contributes to continuously improving the resource management capabilities for organization through the delivery of robust business tools, processes, and data.
Partners with subject matter experts in functional lines and RAPID Modeling Support team to support development and maintenance of oncology FTE estimating assumptions (algorithms) and cost rate information for use in developing resource demand forecasts in support of Planning & Forecasting and Annual Operations Planning activities.
Ensures the consistent use of data standards for estimating resource requirements and costs for POD and Pharmaceutical Research and Development (PRD) functional lines to support near and long-term resource planning activities.
Analyzes, interprets, and reports relevant workload and resource information to leaders in support of resource planning and decision making.
Proactively surfaces potential resource related issues to business leaders and stakeholders and recommends go-forward actions / sourcing solutions.
Delivers regular and ad-hoc resource reports to include actual results and comparison to forecasted resource requirements. Supports variance analyses through the delivery of Closed Loop reports.
Partners with business representatives and leaders to manage and maintain internal/external resource capacity status information for assigned business areas of responsibility in support of resource management objectives.
Coordinates and supports the reporting of drug portfolio and project planning information (e.g., activity, milestone, resource data, etc.) to Pfizer Oncology lines as it pertains to resource management deliverables.
Manages resource and cost assessments related to internal Pfizer portfolio optimization opportunities (e.g., project accelerations, buy-ups, etc.).
Regularly supports database design updates, how-to guides, and relevant documentation.
Prepares high-quality reports and presentations, with a primary focus on executive level materials.
Business Development Assessments:
Performs cost/ budget evaluations associated with external Business Development opportunities (e.g., in-licensing, out-licensing, acquisitions, collaborations, etc.) that enable Pfizer Oncology business leaders to proactively evaluate work requirements and make informed resource decisions.
Business Consultation Services:
Partners with Pfizer Oncology business leaders by providing business information and data to support informed decision making.
Qualifications / Skills:
Bachelor’s degree and 9+ years’ experience or a Master’s degree 7+ years related experience.
Ability to understand and value different customer needs and provide tailored services where necessary; demonstrated customer service mentality and focus to successfully manage a customer-facing role.
Strong communications (written and verbal) skills. Proven ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships with customers/partners and the ability to invite input from these groups when determining what will work best for the business.
Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze and interpret relevant business, resource information and data to support decision-making processes with experience in budget management, resource management and resource modeling.
Strong team player with the ability to engage functional experts across Worldwide Safety & Regulatory and Global Product Development business functions.
Experience using project and/or resource management systems and reporting applications (e.g., Activity Tracking (AT), Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, XML, Planisware, ProModel Portfolio Simulator, Business Objects, Spotfire, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.). Planisware certification is a plus.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to be flexible and prioritize multiple demands.
Possess a high energy level, sense of urgency, creativity, decisiveness, ability to work hard and well under pressure.
Proven ability to negotiate, influence and problem solve. Strong portfolio and resource planning acumen; analytical and strategic problem-solving capabilities.
Nice to have:
Demonstrated understanding of the both the early and late-stage drug development process portfolio management and resource planning.
Familiarity with clinical trial execution, regulatory and/or safety organizations.
Expertise in resource algorithm design and development.
Organizational Relationships:
Will work in a matrixed fashion across POD, Pfizer R&D and Finance business partners to gather, synthesize and analyze data, build dashboard and metrics.
Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
