What you’ll do – The opportunity

Material Handler, Seasonal Relief

Location:

Guelph, Ontario

Description:

Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, the Material Handler, Seasonal Relief assists members of the Warehouse/Distribution department. Please note: This is a fixed, seasonal contract from May until the beginning of September. Schedule rotates on a 2-week basis. Day shift: 8am-4pm, Afternoon shift: 4pm-12am. $500 seasonal retention bonus available upon contract completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Able to assist members of the distribution / warehouse department to ensure smooth operation of the production line and the flow of material
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Order assembly / pallet make-up & sorting
  • Maintenance of production and warehouse reports and reporting of information
  • Maintain a clean and safe workstation and area
  • Assist in on-the-job training
  • Report unusual incidents, accidents and injuries immediately
  • Follow all company policies and regulations
  • Provide job shadowing when needed
  • Other miscellaneous duties as required


Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent   
  • Forklift certification combined with previous forklift experience in a factory/warehouse environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Trouble shooting ability
  • Ability to work rotating shifts in a 24-hour operation
  • Ability to handle heavy lifting on a continual basis
  • Computer knowledge: Microsoft Word & Excel, and experience with integrated warehouse management software (Oracle) an asset
  • Shortlisted candidate will be required to undergo lifting assessment to ensure physical fitness to perform heavy lifting
  • Adhere to the food safety required as per job duties and report non-conformities
  • Clean criminal record check
