Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Program Assistant will provide administrative and programmatic support the Wastewater Program Director, and to staff in the wastewater processing unit. The position will report directly to the Program Director. Duties include coordinating and scheduling meetings, handling conference and travel arrangements and documents, assisting with grant related activities, assisting with supply ordering and inventory control, assisting with budget preparation and account reconciliation, assisting with preparation of reports, newsletters, manuscripts and presentations, and will serve as a point of contact for answering routine questions from staff.

This position will be part of a dynamic team serving the Wadsworth Center’s mission in the New York State Department of Health’s efforts to protect and promote the health of New York’s citizens. Come be a part of Science in the Pursuit of Health®!

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and two years of general office, secretarial, or administrative experience; OR four years of such experience.

Preferred Qualifications

At least two years of administrative experience; experience scheduling meetings or managing conference schedules; experience reviewing and processing purchase requisitions/travel within a grants management system; experience reviewing purchase requisitions to support expenses for allowability and appropriateness of costs; experience in budget preparation and account reconciliation; experience in recruitment and personnel issues.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 10% of the time, will be required.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may be available after initial training period.

This position may require occasional work on weekends, after-hours, and holidays.
