Financial Reporting Team Leader

An exciting opportunity to join our Regional Finance Hub team in Poznan and be part of a global network of regional Finance hubs responsible for Planning & Reporting and Close & Control activities as well as more complex accounting activities.

The teams in the regional Finance hubs will work together to share best practice and knowledge working closely with our HQ Finance teams in London.

We are looking for a Team Leader who will manage the complete, accurate and timely delivery of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) reporting for two key areas of the Corporate Specialist Accounting department:

Long Term Incentives (LTI) provided to UK and US employees including disclosures in the Annual Report and Accounts Venture Capital (VC) entities located in the US and the UK, and the planning and forecasting activities for these entities (Managed by direct report who has a dotted reporting line to the Finance Director – Collaborations).

The Team Leader will manage one direct report.

Your responsibilities:

  • Internal/External Reporting of Actuals - Deliver the month end and quarter end finance activities, including variance commentary and all close activities including the IFRS2 charge and financial incentive (carry) calculations for the VC companies.

  • Responsible for the annual report LTI notes.

  • Responsible for calculation of the IFRS2 charge for local entity statutory accounts and GSK joint ventures

  • Ownership of the accounting for all GSK Award Schemes

  • ESOT Trust – review of the accounting for the two ESOT Trust and entities, including responsibility to ensure that all management recharges take place correctly.   

  • Primary point of contact for third party provider for finance queries pertaining to employee portal.

  • Forecasting and Budgeting – Preparation of the cost of LTI plans for the forecasting and planning cycles. Act as principal point of contact for all planning and forecasting activities for the VC companies and provide commentary on key variances/business drivers and any actions required.

  • Work with Finance Director to provide technical accounting advice to the Corporate Development Team and prepare financial approval papers, including coordination of inputs and approvals from External Reporting, Tax and Treasury.

  • Work with Investment Team on valuation discussions with investment managers on all companies in preparation for quarter end reporting.

  • Prepare and review with Finance Director quarterly reports on equity sell downs and other regulatory requirements to Corp Secretariat for the equity investments. This includes Hart Scott Rodino filings. 

  • Support Finance Director with review and filing of UK statutory accounts whilst working with the service provider to deliver in a timely fashion and to a high standard. 

  • Responsible for agreeing funding requirements for new and existing capital commitments with Corporate Treasury.

  • Leading, Coaching and Developing one direct report.

  • Compliance and Control - Manage internal Sarbox compliance, including managing external audits and review balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Collaborate with peers across the wider department to share best practices and advance common goals related to team building and development.

  • Process Improvements – Deliver process improvements to current ways of working along with any ad hoc project activities as required from time to time.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications and Experience:

  • Accounting degree or qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in finance and accounting including people management

  • Demonstrable experience in financial reporting activities, specifically year-end close, statutory reporting and annual report preparation.

  • Excellent modelling skills in excel

  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS, particularly share based payments and investments accounting. 

  • Experience of working in a multinational, corporate environment

  • Fluent English (minimum C1)

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Outside of the box thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment with different stakeholders, with an ability to influence them.

  • Ability to work across boundaries: Stakeholders are based in different locations around the world, and stakeholders are part of different departments and teams in Corporate Finance and wider GSK.

  • Candidate needs to be comfortable and have presence in interacting with senior stakeholders.

  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple activities in parallel: tasks may need to be completed flexibly rather than according to a perfectly predictable pattern.

  • Strong teamwork skills

Preferred Qualification:

  • SAP experience beneficial – FI Module

  • Valuations and modelling experience

  • Venture Capital accounting experience.

  • SEC Filing requirements.

  • Contracts and legal documents review.
