This person will lead the strategic development and execution of multichannel programs to position and raise awareness of our evidence-based medicine initiatives at Varian. The Clinical Marketing Director will be an integral member of the Global Corporate Marketing Organization that drives the iconic branding and positioning for the company, business lines, and product portfolios.
Responsibilities
The Clinical Marketing Director will report to the SVP, Marketing & Communications and will be responsible for:
Partnering with key internal stakeholders and business unit teams to build dynamic communication plans for key company clinical trials, real-world evidence, and other relevant clinical/preclinical studies to deliver clear, effective, and aligned communications across multiple channels to various audiences.
Forming partnerships with key groups to ensure that Communications is involved in early stages of trial planning for optimal positioning
Collaborate with and integrate deliverables across functional teams – from product marketing, geo-marketing, regulatory affairs, government affairs and legal to creative, web, digital operations, PR, tradeshow, and social – to create a strategic approach designed to accomplish objectives and produce effective promotional and communications materials
Create a cohesive narrative and distill key messages across communications channels and audiences, presenting them in a compelling and visually interesting way.
Create and execute proactive, strategic internal and external communication materials (e.g., talking points, collateral, FAQs press releases, etc.) that build awareness, understanding and reputation through strategic positioning, promotion, and industry thought leadership
Support the company’s social channels through content development
Coordinate with and manage agency partners contribution
Develops comprehensive measurement tools and matrixes to gauge the change communications program’s effectiveness and improve short- and long-term planning, strategies, and tactics
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Business Acumen: Has an in-depth understanding of the company, its strategy, operations, business objectives, and industry. Can critically evaluate the costs, risks, and benefits of different alternatives before making a decision.
Interpersonal influence: Proven experience in effectively communicating with top-level executives and outside thought leaders to win support for programs. Exceptional initiation and collaboration skills with the ability to introduce concept directions/approaches and partner effectively within the department and across the organization. Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal.
Market Development: Working knowledge in brand marketing, market/customer segmentation, value proposition development, competitive analysis, marketing communications, and digital and traditional go-to-market strategies.
Clinical Research: Basic knowledge of clinical research and trial design terminology
Project Management: Ability to drive work independently and manage multiple projects that vary in scope and complexity simultaneously in an Agile environment. Ability to map out large scale projects and schedule work accordingly. Ability to use a variety of different forms of media to accomplish priorities described.
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to partner with others to work effectively with various levels of the organization as well as various personality types, build and nurture strategic relationships and champion diversity and inclusion activities, strategies, and initiatives

The base pay range for this position is
Min $158,900 - Max $285,900The pay wage range shown is based on the job posting's primary location. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications, and location.
