e-Commerce Data Syndication Specialist

Collaborate with innovative 3Mers around the world

Syndication is about receiving requests for product data from channel partners, correctly interpreting their data requests, pulling data from corporate systems, identifying gaps that need to be filled, sourcing missing data from internal businesses and divisions, completing requests per the customer’s specifications, and distributing completed requests back to the requester in their format of choice. 

 The successful candidate will make an impact by sourcing product data from internal systems and contacts to distribute to our channel partners in a fast-paced setting. Will play a critical role in activating content-to-revenue marketing. They will source and synthesize complex product information into engaging, relevant content that drives sales. Relentless research acumen, acute attention to detail, and a strong “customer first” mindset are critical.  

The impact you will have on this role

  • Provide large amounts of product data between 3M divisions and their channel partners, buying groups, and other customers 
  • Extract data from internal systems of record, manipulate in tools such as Microsoft Excel, and provided to our channel partners via vendor portals, third-party data pools (GDSN’s), customer templates and other channel partner requested formats 
  • Reformat, refinement, and map data to channel partner templates 
  • Identify data gaps, source missing information, and work with process owners and others to establish or enrich content 
  • Leverage operational data management and customer engagement skills to enhance our e-commerce partnerships with channel partners and to improve our presence on e-commerce websites 
  • Prioritize syndication requests according to business and channel partner needs, building strong relationships with internal and external customers 
  • Escalate data quality issues to appropriate areas 
  • Develop an end-to-end understanding of processes, systems and standards, and contribute to enhancing existing sustainable and compliant data extraction and data syndication processes 
  • Interact with different functional groups across multiple levels within the organization 
  • Participate in ad hoc special projects as required, and other tasks as assigned. 

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications: 

  • Associates degree or higher from an accredited educational institution. 
  • Two years’ experience within eCommerce and B2B markets as an asset and product data.
  • Well organized, excellent time management skills, and able to prioritize and manage multiple requests with urgency and accuracy to meet tight deadlines. 
  • Customer focused and able to develop solutions that address customer needs. 
  • Work effectively on an individual and team basis, and in cross-functional groups. 
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure information accuracy and to meet our channel partner’s requirements 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel, knowledge of functions and pivot tables, and ability to manipulate large data sets of 10K+ lines. 
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with sound editorial judgment and consistent expression of brand voice across multiple product lines and personas. 
  • Proven ability to source, interpret, and assimilate multiple sources of information into consistent, accurate, relevant messaging. 
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, exceling in collaborative work environments with quick, competing deadlines. 
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to internal systems of record (SAP, Hybris, Salsify, Adobe, etc.) 
  • Self-motivated, and able to work effectively as an individual, in cross-functional groups, and with internal and external customers. 
  • Flexible attitude and ability to work within a rapidly growing and changing e-commerce organization. 
  • Troubleshooting Skills. 
  • Analytical skills. 

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: 

  • Familiarity with GS1-managed data standards, including GDSN and GTINs is a plus. 
  • Digital savvy with experience in SEO best practices, including keyword practices, research, and analytics.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with the theories and practices of one or more disciplines such as Channel or Portfolio manager
  • In-depth knowledge of 3M structure, organizations, business units, and priority channel partners.
