Get To Know The Role:  

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Engineering to lead our engineering team at GXS Bank. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in micro services based and cloud based architecture, agile  development model, extensive experience in financial technology, and a proven track record of building and scaling robust, secure, and high-performance systems. Familiarity with Singapore’s financial regulations and compliance requirements is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the back-end engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with the company's overall goals and objectives

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence

  • Collaborate with Product Managers and business / operation leads to understand the requirements, break it down to smaller engineering tasks and drive the team to execute and deliver on the requirements

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance systems

  • Ensure that the architecture and infrastructure support the needs of a rapidly growing fintech digibank

  • Understand and highlight the key risks during software development lifecycle and suggest mitigating measures in timely manner

  • Ensure visibility and transparency with stakeholders during entire SDLC process

  • Ensure alignment with other digibanks leaders and stakeholders and lead cross functional and cross geography team

  • Continuously monitor and optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability

  • Implement best practices for performance tuning and load testing

  • Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect sensitive financial data.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks and industry standards, including PCI DSS, MAS TRM, and ISO 27001

  • Stay updated on Singapore’s Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) guidelines and regulations, ensuring all back-end systems comply with local financial regulations

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, product management, and operations, to deliver seamless and integrated solutions

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on project status, risks, and opportunities

  • Stay abreast of the latest technologies, tools, and best practices in software development

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the engineering team.

Key Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

  • 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focusing on back-end development

  • Proven experience in the fintech industry, particularly within Singapore, is highly desirable.

  • Strong expertise in back-end technologies and programming languages, such as Java, Python or Go.

  • Experience with databases, both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)

  • Proficiency with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Deep understanding of microservices architecture and API development

  • Excellent stakeholder management & communication skills

  • In-depth knowledge of Singapore’s financial regulations and compliance requirements

  • Experience with MAS guidelines and regulatory frameworks is desirable 

  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
