About the Position

Vesalius Therapeutics, a Flagship Pioneering company, is seeking a capable and highly motivated Lab Operations Manager to join our growing team.  As a Lab Operations manager, you will be an essential part of an interdisciplinary team of highly creative and talented individuals responsible for maintaining and implementing lab practices that support various activities within the research laboratories.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize lab operation processes to maintain an efficient and safe lab space for our scientists.
  • The position is responsible for day-to-day lab operations including oversight of equipment, consumables, safety, lab moves, and facilities.
  • Work with Facilities, IT, Finance, Procurement and external service providers.
  • Inventory management of laboratory consumables and reagents.
  • Asset management to track equipment inventory and services including calibration, maintenance, service contract renewal, software/hardware upgrades, decommissioning, and moves for existing equipment.
  • Manage laboratory waste removal and disposal.
  • Oversee shipping logistics for lab-related items.
  • Responsible for managing requests for utility upgrades, modifications, and installations.
  • Oversee laboratory safety, compliance with regulatory agencies, lab safety training and coordination of internal biosafety committee including generation of protocols for committee approval
  • Identify opportunities, lead initiatives to optimize processes and improve lab operations within R&D.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science and 5+ years relevant industry experience
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail. Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely.
  • Document issues and/or concerns concisely with colleagues; capable of timely and effectively communication to upper and direct management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Independent and self-motivated individual. Works well in a cross functional team environment. Multi-tasking is a key component.
  • Able to troubleshoot critical issues or problems and resolve routine issues using appropriate information.
  • Able to initiate, manage, plan, execute, control, and close concurrent projects within given timelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment with a sense of urgency and creativity and focus on deliverables.
  • Team player with a strong work ethic, able to work both independently and collaboratively 
  • Continuously learns and adapts quickly to new information
