Job Description Summary

Lean Operating Method & KPO Team Leader (within Gas Power’s Business Operations Center of Excellence) will own and drive excellence across the organization by championing best practices and providing subject matter expertise for the lean operating method and kaizen promotion, aligned with GE Vernova and Gas Power culture and goals. This role provides leadership in the areas of operationalizing the lean operating method including hoshin and lean learning, lean coaching for functions, advanced and actionable analytics, L1/L2 bowler management, and L1 monthly operating review ownership. This role will work closely within CoE, and partner across the entire Business-line and Lifecycle-function value streams – win, design, buy, build, execute – with focus, oversight, and responsibility to maintain the organization’s kaizen promotion office, deploy the lean operating method, and operationalize L1 monthly operating reviews, ensuring efficiency, continuous improvement, and stakeholder satisfaction.

Job Description

Key Activities:

  • Develop, communicate and lead a cohesive global strategy for Kaizen Promotion Office and Lean Operating Method Deployment. Establish and support lean excellence across the entire organization to support achievement of growth and efficiency targets, aligned with BOPS vision and operational strategy.
  • Collaborate across BOPS valuestreams, Gas Power, and GE Vernova representatives to ensure the Gas Power Business Operations Center of Excellence is consistently aligned with standards and expectations for kaizen promotion and lean operating method.
  • Focus Area 1: Lean Operating Method… Own the lean operating method deployment across BOPS valuestreams, and enabling transformation to achieve ‘Performing’ in each of the 5 elements. Define standards and enable assimilation across win, design, buy, build, and execute. Deliver consistent, measurable, and sustainable year-over-year results through valuestream + combined Lean Roadmaps.
  • Focus Area 2 : Functional Lean… Collaborate to shape and operationalize the continuous improvement vision for specific areas across specific functional organizations in accordance with Business Operations & Lean Operating Method strategy. Work with leaders across the supported organizations to assess current baselines and determine the processes to be improved using the Lean methodologies. On selected initiatives, lead, coach and mentor deployment of the full Lean toolbox. VSM, PSR, MOR, Standard Work, Kaizen events driving process efficiency and effectiveness. Support simplification of the complex processes and manage cross-functional relationships to support business impact. Lead Value Stream Matrix sessions focusing on waste elimination, process simplification and lead-time reduction in key activities.
  • Focus Area 3 : Kaizen Promotion… define standards and lead deployment across BOPS valuestreams for kaizen scoping (including lean roadmap calendarization), planning, executing, and sustainment. Lead the scoping, rostering / participation, template utilization, and reporting for GEV enterprise kaizen weeks, including CEO Kaizen Week, Sustainability Kaizen Week, and EHS&Q Kaizen Week. Partner with GEV HQ / KPO on standard setting, lean operating method maturity assessment, kaizen optimizer usage, and enterprise kaizen weeks.
  • Focus Area 4 : Advanced Analytics & Monthly Operating Review… own the KPI tree for Gas Power BOPS, with definition, connections, and operationalization across valuestreams. Implement fit for purpose data / information capture and analysis systems and monitor and report on data trends, performance progress, and to identify opportunities for improvement across L1 and L2 KPIs. Identify a comprehensive suite of leading and lagging indicators to monitor and measure performance across focus areas, with necessary data visualization dashboards, and drive focus on opportunity for improvement. Partner with leaders to optimize monthly operating rhythm (L1 KPI MOR), with standardized problem solving, clear outcomes, and deliver positive improvement in Quality and EHS performance as measured by identified TTIs and KPIs.
  • Manage CoE KPO operations with responsible cost management and established budget allocations.
  • Build an effective and efficient CoE KPO Team, support talent/capacity development and individual growth.
  • Champion the implementation of innovative solutions, including the application of technology, to address challenges and to enable processes for efficient and effective execution.
  • Foster an inclusive culture which encourages and allows everyone to contribute as an ambassador for excellence focused on EHS and quality and aligned with the GE Vernova Way, ensuring effective cross-functional communication, engagement with team members, and alignment with excellence goals.

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in implementation and leadership in Operations / CoE / EHS and / or Quality, with experience in utilizing Lean methodology.
  • A focus on continual improvement aligned with a PDCA cycle.
  • Experienced in technological/industrial work environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading transformation in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions, influencing and stakeholder management
  • Energy and enthusiasm for excellence and learning.
  • Strategic thinking and organizational agility
  • Analytical mindset and data-driven decision making with ability to identify and explain critical issues
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, experience working and leading cross-culturally, English fluency
  • Hands-on leadership with a mentoring/coaching approach
  • Availability to travel as required, to drive strategy, support problem solving and connect with teams.

What will make you stand out

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or other related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and supporting EHS, Quality and Lean management systems, policies, procedures and practices in complex socio-technical organizations operating in demanding technological industries (e.g. automotive, aviation, aerospace, energy, power generation, etc)
  • Experience in change/transformation management
  • Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills, capable of influencing and driving a strategic change agenda across the organization
  • Change agent with strong credibility at all levels of the organization
  • Lean practitioner, capable and experienced on facilitating kaizen events and coaching the core tools such as Daily Management, structured Problem Solving, Value Stream and Process Mapping, Standard Work, Transactional Process Improvement.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $157,900.00 and $263,100.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
