As the Modern Data Platform Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and management of customer data platforms. You will lead a team of data engineers, ensuring that customer data infrastructure is robust, scalable, and aligned with business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
    • Manage team workload, ensuring timely and quality delivery of projects.
  • Platform Development and Management:
    • Oversee the design and implementation of the modern data platform, including data lakes, data warehouses, and ETL processes.
    • Ensure the platform is scalable, secure, and optimized for performance.
    • Continuously evaluate and integrate new data technologies and tools.
  • Data Management:
    • Help respond to customer tenders and grow the business.
    • Define and implement data governance policies and best practices.
    • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across the data platform.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to align the data platform with business objectives.
  • Project Management:
    • Develop and manage project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
    • Monitor project progress and performance, addressing any issues that arise.
    • Report on project status to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Work closely with business units, data scientists, and analysts to understand data needs and requirements.
    • Translate business requirements into technical specifications for the data platform.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to stakeholders on data platform capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a related role.
    • Proven experience in leading data teams and managing data platform projects.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle) and data modelling.
    • Experience with data integration tools and technologies.
    • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their data services.
    • Strong knowledge of Databricks, Synapse, Data Lakehouse, Snowflake, Redshift, big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
    • Expertise in SQL and other query languages.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
