Job Description Summary

The Chief of Operations will report directly to the GE Vernova Chief Corporate Officer and will serve as a senior strategic and operational leader within the Global Government Affairs and Sustainability organization. This role will help shape and drive the organization’s strategic priorities, operating rhythm, leadership engagement, external positioning, and cross-functional execution across the GE Vernova segments.

Job Description

As a member of the Government Affairs and Sustainability leadership team, the Chief of Operations will work closely with senior leaders across regions, businesses, corporate functions, and external stakeholder groups to advance GE Vernova’s priorities at the intersection of energy, sustainability, policy, customers, communities, and business growth. The individual will support the VP of Global Government Affairs and Sustainability to translate strategic objectives into measurable outcomes, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and ensure alignment between government affairs, sustainability, corporate functions and business leadership.

The Chief of Operations will play a visible and influential role in preparing for, shaping, and representing GE Vernova at high-profile internal and external engagements, including Board meetings, global conferences (e.g. COP, NYCW, B20, and other strategic events), executive forums as well as customer and government meetings. The individual will work in close partnership with the GE Vernova Communications team, the Government Affairs and Sustainability teams across Corporate and the businesses, and senior enterprise stakeholders to amplify the company’s impact, credibility, and voice externally.

The Chief of Operations will lead, mentor, and develop team members, drive a high-performance culture, and help build the capabilities, processes, and operating mechanisms required for a growing and evolving global function. The individual will be expected to operate with executive presence, sound judgment, high integrity, discretion, and the ability to navigate complexity, ambiguity, and change across a global matrixed organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic partner to the Chief Corporate Officer, helping to define, prioritize, and execute initiatives, including confidential and time-sensitive matters, across government affairs, sustainability, external engagement, and business alignment.
  • Provide strategic direction and operational leadership for the Government Affairs and Sustainability organization, ensuring that priorities, resources, processes, and stakeholder engagements are aligned with GE Vernova’s enterprise objectives, while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, providing coaching, direction, and support while fostering a culture of Lean, accountability, collaboration, inclusion, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Support the Chief Corporate Officer’s attendance at key public-facing events, executive forums, stakeholder meetings, conferences, and strategic engagements, and where appropriate, represent the company on his behalf.
  • Develop high-level strategic briefings for Board and Executive Leadership Team, and represent the Government Affairs & Sustainability teams in these engagements, highlighting progress, challenges and upcoming actions to senior leadership
  • Lead AI integration across the organization, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, decision-making, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge management through responsible and practical use of AI-enabled tools and processes.
  • Partner in budget development and long-term strategic planning, helping to shape resource allocation, prioritize investments, and align operating plans with organizational objectives and growth priorities.
  • Work closely with HR on workforce planning, staffing, and hiring, ensuring the organization has the right talent, structure, and capabilities to meet current and future needs
  • Partner with senior leaders across GE Vernova’s businesses, regions, and corporate functions to advance cross-functional priorities, resolve complex issues, and drive alignment between government affairs, sustainability, commercial, communications, legal, and operational teams.
  • Build and strengthen external relationships with government stakeholders, policy organizations, non-profit partners, educational institutions, industry associations, customers, and other strategic partners to advance GE Vernova’s priorities.
  • Represent GE Vernova externally to showcase strategic programs, strengthen the company’s reputation, attract talent and partnerships, and reinforce GE Vernova’s leadership in energy, sustainability, and public policy.
  • Anticipate emerging risks, opportunities, and organizational needs, and proactively develop recommendations and action plans.
  • Lead through change and ambiguity with agility, resilience, and sound judgment, while maintaining a strong focus on business outcomes, customer value, enterprise alignment, and team engagement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in a relevant field, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Significant experience in government affairs, sustainability, public policy, corporate affairs or a related field, with demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a global, matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, including the ability to lead, coach, mentor, and develop high-performing teams across geographies and functions.
  • Proven ability to translate strategy into execution, establish operating mechanisms, manage priorities, and deliver measurable outcomes across a complex organization.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master’s degree in Sustainability, Public Affairs, Public Policy, International Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience working with senior executives, boards, government officials, policy leaders, customers, industry associations, NGOs, or other external stakeholder groups.
  • Experience leading cross-functional strategic initiatives that require coordination across government affairs, sustainability, communications, legal, commercial, regional, and business teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare senior leaders for internal and external engagements, including public speaking opportunities, government meetings, customer discussions, and conferences.
  • Strong executive presence and judgment, with the ability to engage credibly with senior leadership, government officials, external partners, customers and industry stakeholders.
  • Strategic and systems thinker who can quickly process complex information, identify interdependencies, assess trade-offs, and make recommendations that drive enterprise impact.
  • Highly organized and disciplined, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple strategic priorities, confidential matters, and high-visibility initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong situational awareness, including the ability to anticipate issues, influence outcomes, and navigate complex stakeholder dynamics.
  • Impactful communicator with the ability to listen effectively and communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively in verbal and written formats, including executive presentations and external engagements.
  • Able to lead with humility, transparency, focus, and accountability. Operates with integrity, discretion, and professionalism, including under urgent, sensitive, or high-pressure circumstances.
  • Approachable, collaborative, and inclusive across stakeholders, peers, and team members.
  • Strong alignment with GE Vernova’s culture and values.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $260,000 and $390,000 USD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
