Job Title: Senior Engineer – Global Engineering Labs (GEL)

About the Role:

Engineers in Micron’s Global Engineering Labs are innovators and problem-solvers who design and maintain custom equipment for advanced semiconductor testing. They own complex projects end-to-end, collaborate across global teams, and deliver creative solutions that enable next-generation memory technologies. This role combines technical expertise, hands-on troubleshooting, and cross-functional communication. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Custom Equipment Design & Integration

    • Develop unique test systems and upgrade existing tools for advanced semiconductor processes.

    • Design mechanical and electrical solutions for specialized lab environments, ensuring ESD and EMI compliance as an example.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner with internal engineering groups and external vendors to define configurations and ensure seamless integration.

    • Communicate requirements and priorities through structured systems like JIRA.

  • Problem Solving & Innovation

    • Troubleshoot complex issues such as RFID interference, electrical noise, and environmental compliance using advanced diagnostic tools.

    • Develop creative solutions for thermal testing, automated handling, and controlled material qualification.

  • Documentation & Standards

    • Maintain clear, organized documentation for designs, lessons learned, and compliance verification.

    • Contribute to continuous improvement by setting standards for equipment storage, design practices, and project execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience. 

  • Strong work ethic with an excellent can-do attitude.  Need to have the ability to change and learn as new ideas and technologies emerge. 

  • Be willing to work on any problem, electrical, mechanical, mathematical, or other.  Be willing to solve problems no matter what form they take and do it in a timely manner.   

  • Excellent organizational skills and proactive ownership of projects.

  • Effective communication across technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Experience

  • Semiconductor lab equipment design and integration.

  • Hands-on troubleshooting with oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, and EMI/ESD compliance tools.

  • Familiarity with automated test systems and global engineering workflows.

  • Mechanical/electrical design capability with proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
