A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Maintenance Inventory Clerk is an entry level, hourly position that ensures critical parts, tools and supplies are available when needed to keep production /galvanizing equipment running safely and efficiently.   The ideal candidate is detail-orientated, reliable and thrives in an industrial environment.  This candidate understands the urgency of maintenance needs, and maintains accurate, organized inventory. 

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain accurate inventory of maintenance parts, tools and consumables, and supplies for the maintenance department.
  • Perform routine cycle counts and assist with full inventory audits.
  • Monitor stock levels and proactively re-order items to prevent downtime.
  • Receive, inspect, and label incoming materials; verify shipments against purchase orders.
  • Issue parts and tools to maintenance technicians, documenting supplies and tools removed/used.
  • Keep the maintenance shop, tool room, and storage area organized.
  • Assist maintenance leadership in forecasting material needs for scheduled work, shutdowns, and emergency repairs.
  • Support tracking of critical spares for galvanizing equipment.
  • Update and maintain inventory records.
  • Prepare reports on inventory usage, stock levels, and purchasing activity.
  • Maintain documentation for equipment warranties, manuals, SDS sheets, and vendor information.
  • Communicate with suppliers to obtain quotes, check availability, and track order status.
  • Work with AP Clerk on purchase requests and follow up on outstanding orders.
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials needed for maintenance tasks and plant operations.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Communication skills
  • Basic computer skills (email, data entry, excel)
  • Ability to lift and move materials (not to exceed 50 lbs)
  • Basic math skills for counting, measuring, and tracking stock
  • Organizational skills to maintain storerooms and records
  • Ability to follow safety procedures
  • Experience in inventory, warehousing, or clerical work (minimum 1 year)

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Posses These Qualifications:

  • Experience in inventory control, warehousing, or maintenance support (minimum 2 years)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Computer Skills (Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook)
  • Communicate effectively both orally and written.
  • Interact with coworkers in a positive manner
  • Filing and data entry
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a heavy‑industrial environment (heat, noise, PPE requirements).

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting with moderate noise.  The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings.  The environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time.  The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office. Will work with various files and forms and on the computer.  The employee is occasionally required to move about the office and maintenance shop.  Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or large files, binders, orders and computer equipment (not to exceed 50 lbs).  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.  Must be able to wear appropriate PPE when out on plant floor including hardhat, safety glasses, earplugs, high viz vest and steel toed boots with built in metatarsal guards.
