Technology group in CBA is responsible for the world leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank, from innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive efficient and timely processing, an essential component of great customer service.

The Payments Technology team resides in the Payments Service Utility and its purpose is to restore the trust of our customers by transforming the Payments services experiences provided by the Bank to 99.999% availability, greater agility and reliability.

Our team is composed of engineers and technology leaders, who bring in the right mix of skills to enable this transformation. We also work very closely with our business and operations colleagues to support these services which are critical to the Australian and Global economy.

Our team is also responsible in driving Engineering Governance, Continuous Delivery and key technological simplification pillars such as Cloud and Payments Event based architecture.

Tech skills  

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team; 

• Good experience in Java/J2EE, Spring suite, and REST APIs.

• Working knowledge of Kafka, IBM MQ and MongoDB.

• Microservice Architecture, Design Patterns and best practices.

• Experienced in Performance Tuning, High throughput and resilient applications.

• Jetty, Tomcat and Websphere

• Maven and CI Tools (Jenkins/Team City).

• Agile methodologies and working on short sprint cycles.

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and AWS is highly desirable

• Banking and Payments domain knowledge is desirable
