As the Head Chef you’ll be part of an experienced, engaged and dedicated team helping to create a welcoming, professional and supportive care experience for the residents of St Vincent’s Care Services Hawthorn working Full Time across Monday to Friday.

St Vincent's Care Services Hawthorn (locally known as Mary Mackillop Aged Care) is a 91 bed facility located in Hawthorn East, just 7km from Melbourne's city centre with the added convenience of Camberwell Junction right around the corner.

Things that work for us:

  • Ability to cook multi cuisines and bake items
  • Flexibility to manage special dietary requirements
  • Ensure compliance with food safety hygiene standards
  • Trade qualification in Commercial cooking (preferred)
  • Current FSS Certificate (Food Safety Supervisor)
  • Roster management and working within approved budget
  • Be part of the leadership team in ensuring a superior dining service
  • Maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff
  • Previous experience in an aged care facility or bistro/hotel; ideally five years or more (desirable)
  • An ability to work a multidisciplinary team within a fast paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and record keeping;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus, with an ability to implement change and drive a strong team culture;
  • National Police Certificate
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check may be a requirement of this role.
