Track Inspector - Illinois

Starting yearly salary: $55,000 based on experience.

I. SUMMARY

Employee is accountable for assisting with track inspections and job site management.

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with Operations personnel to ensure the service meets customer requirements and schedules.
  • Assist in resolving customer service issues
  • Inspect customer facilities for defects in need of repair and provide reports to Estimators for bidding purposes.
  • Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 III. QUALIFICATIONS

The qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential duties of this position. A. Education and/or Experience
 

  • High school diploma required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in construction preferred.
  • project management, including experience analyzing project costs and information, setting project budgets, and estimating costs preferred.
  • 2 years construction field experience preferred.

B. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to build and develop positive working relationships with customers and vendors.
  • Proficient with computer software to conduct daily business activities (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Superior communication skills: Must be comfortable engaging in a variety of different communicative modes (verbal, non-verbal, and written) and being attuned to others through strong active listening skills.
  • Strong teamwork, initiative, resilience, and tact required.
  • Must be comfortable making decisions with a strong focus on safety and quality.
  • Strong working knowledge of one’s field or discipline in which they find themselves engaged on a daily basis. Becoming fully aware to Build Relationships between individuals and within one’s division.

C.  Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

D. Reasoning Ability  

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee works in various settings, typically on-site at customer locations out in the elements of the natural environment.  The employee must be able to ambulate in and around active construction sites, in and around railroad tracks and uneven terrain. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to natural environmental hazards, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles.

F. OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Individual must have the ability to travel as required.

Valid Driver’s License in good standing required.
