Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Quality Management -- Directs and guides the activities of a function responsible for interfacing with suppliers and supply chain to provide materials and components for manufacturing. Develops systems and procedures for Supplier Quality including, but not limited selecting and monitoring suppliers to ensure their ability to meet quality standards and that parts and materials received meet requirements in a cost-effective manner. Establishes requirements for suppliers to achieve process and quality standards.  Facilitates development of team/partner relationships with partners, suppliers and maintains relationships for delivery of high-quality components and materials. Conducts supplier facility surveys, root cause analysis, correction and preventive action of critical component providers. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.


Position Description

Director will establish the tactics, actions, and metrics and enable strategic direction to improve the customer experience. Identify and implement performance targets to meet product and customer requirements. Key metrics include performance of key Supplier Quality processes, process compliance, product performance and results. Set targets and action plans to continuously improve Design Quality Engineering processes and performance.

     Plans, defines, monitors and improves quality goals and objectives. Monitors product quality through supplier performance, audits, first pass yield, customer feedback, inspection, cost of non-quality analysis and customer score cards.

     Designs, and implements alternative methods and procedures in solving problems and meeting changing market expectations and opportunities.

     Assists in the development of short term and long-term quality goals and objectives of the Quality team aligned with Axcelis goals and objectives.

     Performs and coordinates the root cause failure analysis related to customer quality issues and effectively communicates resolution to customers and internal stakeholders.

     Leads and participate in Quality improvement, continuous improvement, lean, on daily basis.

     Leads a team of Quality Engineers on a day-to-day basis, develops team and enables eam to be successful every-day.

     Manages and improves key Quality processes to ensures process effectiveness and efficiency, takes both strategic and tactical approach through continuous improvement.

Qualifications

     Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical, electrical, physics or other sciences. Master's Degree or MBA preferred.

     10 years product and process Quality, operations, engineering, product support and or customer related experience (Final Test, Product Support, Sales, Service) ideally in the Ion Implant / Semiconductor equipment Industry.

Thorough understanding of problem-solving methods – i.e., Six Sigma, 8D, root cause analysis, and associated statistical tools to analyze problems, evaluate and complete improvement projects.

     Familiarity with defect prevention plans, process variation reduction concepts and product reliability.

    Ability to work with a cross functional team and lead projects.

    Open minded, collaborative, self-starter with change agent mentality

     Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously, managing urgent and important priorities.

     Familiarity with ISO9001, APQP, Quality Systems in automotive, aerospace, or medical device fields.

     Professional certification in Quality (ASQ), Lean, and Six Sigma methodology preferred.
