Certified CS/SPD Technician

As a Certified CS/SPD Technician, you will play a key role in how our operating rooms care for our patients as a whole team relies on you to successfully set up the operating room. Certified CS/SPD Technicians receive ample support, training and education, including learning how to operate the latest, state-of-the-art processing equipment and using the newest sterilization tools and concepts.  
 

A caregiver in this position works 3:00PM – 11:30PM with on-call requirements.  
 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Be responsible for the safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments, equipment distribution and case care management.  

  • Perform case pull functions.  

  • Determine appropriate case carts to be built for specialty procedures.  

  • Dispatch case carts to ensure they are available for surgical/clinical procedures.  

  • Perform recordkeeping functions, such as processing, sterilization, quality assurance and more.  

  • Order and stock supplies.  

  • Maintain adequate levels and inventory of supplies.  


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High school diploma or GED.  

  • Sterile processing distribution certification (CRST) by IAHCSMM or CBSPD. 


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • One year of experience in central service/sterile processing areas.  

  • Successful completion of a recognized training program with certification in central service/sterile processing.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull and navigate supply carts weighing >than 75 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
