Dow has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Logistics Specialist, based in Bogota(COL). This Logistics Specialist position will be in charge of all Outplant operations in the Andean region for II&I and C&PM, aligned to the Dow Logistics organization, mainly focused on the ensuring the proper execution of logistics processes by our LSPs and also performing the necessary activities to ensure the correct and accurate record of our inventories.
The selected candidate will also need to utilize logistics knowledge, technical expertise and operations experience to assist in correcting process or equipment issues which improve process performance and reliability. Partnering with other areas and peers, the person will work with technical advising and logistics operations personnel to create methods to optimize operations. Resolving day-to-day operational issues while identifying and implementing improvement opportunities will be also key, given the criticality of the processes under his/her responsibility.Aligned to Dow's MET, the Logistics Specialist will ensure that logistics equipment meets business requirements, product specifications, and Dow and government safety standards.Performance and cost management will be also a key responsibility of this person.
In this role, you will require conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures as well as having general business knowledge developed through education or prior experience related to your discipline and functional area. You will need to have the ability to exchange straightforward information with others and ask questions to check for understanding. It is your responsibility to use established procedures and practice to analyze and resolve standard problems. You will be accountable for assigned contributions with no direct supervisory responsibilities. Your performance impacts your own work with limited impact on your team. You will need to use established procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
This position is aligned to Marine Operations, given the responsibilities related to Cartagena and Barranquilla bulk terminals
Responsibilities:
Utilizes logistics knowledge, technical expertise and operations experience to assist in correcting process or equipment issues which improve process performance and reliability
Works with technical advising and logistics operations personnel to create methods to optimize operations
Participates in advanced troubleshooting and coaches others to learn these skills. Implements best practices
Interacts with other Dow (global) regions to resolve order issues for inter-area shipments
Ensures most effective technology and specific operating discipline requirements are in place
Interfaces with third party logistics providers and ensures contractual obligations are met with no penalties or fines incurred
Initiates changes to operating procedures to ensure that they are valid and up-to-date
Communicates technical information and issues to operations and/or technology
Supports and assists with QN investigations and identification of corrective and preventative measures
Administers trade lane contracts where needed to maximize benefits to Dow. (Facilitate vessel/cargo nominations, mitigate dead freight, mitigate demurrage, approve invoices, manage carriers and logistics LSP)
Responds to and resolves customer or internal product quality or service incidents
Supports procurement tender negotiation and implementation with operational expertise
Qualifications:
University Degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or other Sciences
3 years of experience in a Supply Chain or Manufacturing environment
Fluent in Spanish
Advanced English skills
SAP and MS365
Analytical skills and PBI will be differentials
