  • A consultant in the Sourcing and Procurement team within the Global Network (GN) in Accenture would be a part of globally diverse consulting team entrusted with the task of delivering sourcing and procurement engagements for clients across industries. The consultant is expected to work as part of a global team to support responsible value chain engagements related to sourcing & procurement. The responsibilities of a consultant include but are not limited to the following:

  • Goal Setting: Partner with clients to collect, analyse, and interpret data related to Scope 3 transport emissions and sustainability targets. Use this data to set measurable goals and provide detailed reporting on progress toward net-zero transportation objectives.
  • Carbon Emissions Baselining: Establish baseline metrics for Scope 3 transport emissions and track progress against targets.
  • Net-Zero Strategy Development: Design and implement strategies for achieving net-zero transportation, including logistics optimization, decarbonisation scenario modelling, and carbon pricing mechanisms.
  • Business Case Development: Create and communicate robust business cases for sustainability initiatives, focusing on how these initiatives will drive net-zero transportation outcomes and align with clients' strategic goals.
  • Guidance on Sustainable Practices: Advise clients on best practices for sustainable sourcing and transportation, ensuring adherence to the latest global sustainability regulations and standards, such as GRI, SASB, TCFD, and the GHG Protocol.
  • Market & Industry Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of market trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in sustainable transportation. Apply findings to develop innovative solutions
  • Recommendations & Technology Solutions: Define clear outcomes and provide tailored recommendations and technology solutions to support net-zero transportation goals. Consider clients’ existing capabilities and limitations to propose feasible and impactful solutions.
  • Sustainable Logistics & Fulfilment: Integrate net-zero transportation principles into logistics and fulfilment processes. Evaluate and enhance current practices to reduce carbon footprints and improve efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Capability Building: Engage with key business partners and thought leaders to support the development of functional capabilities and knowledge within the practice. Ensure a consistent approach to embedding sustainability principles into transportation and supply chain activities
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends and innovations in sustainable transportation. Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance overall sustainability performance.

  • Net-Zero Transition Experience: Extensive experience in leading net-zero transitions, including the development and implementation of decarbonization strategies specifically for transportation. Proven ability to drive significant reductions in carbon emissions across transportation networks and supply chains.
  • Advanced Procurement Knowledge: Deep expertise in sustainable procurement practices within the transportation sector. Skilled in integrating sustainability principles into procurement processes to support net-zero transportation goals and enhance overall supply chain sustainability.
  • Knowledge of TMS and ERP Systems: Proficient in the use of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to manage and optimize transportation and supply chain operations. Ability to leverage these systems to enhance sustainability and track performance against net-zero targets.
  • Understanding of Emission Standards & Regulations: In-depth knowledge of emission standards, protocols, and regulations relevant to the transportation sector. Familiarity with frameworks such as the GHG Protocol, and other industry-specific standards to ensure compliance and drive emissions reduction.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, crucial for effectively conveying complex sustainability strategies and decarbonization plans to senior leadership and clients. Expertise in presenting business cases and securing stakeholder engagement.
  • Strategic Project & People Management: Exceptional project and people management skills, with a track record of leading complex transportation projects and cross-functional teams. Expertise in managing projects that drive net-zero transitions and improve sustainability outcomes.

  • MBA from Tier1 B School and/or BE/B.Tech from Tier 1 engineering institutes, ideally with coursework or specialization in sustainable transportation or logistics.
  • 3-4 years of consulting or industry experience with a focus on net-zero transportation transitions, including expertise in decarbonization strategies for transportation networks and supply chains will be a plus
  • Experience of having designed and implemented sustainability initiatives in areas of net zero including decarbonization of supply chain, green logistics, scope 3 emission reduction is a plus
  • Strong experience and deep understanding of supply chain logistics or sourcing and procurement function
  • Strong proficiency of developing business cases and implementation roadmaps for sustainability initiatives
  • Strong proficiency in gathering, managing, and presenting data and analytics with prior sustainability experience.
  • Understanding of global and regional compliance and regulatory standards pertaining to ESG requirements is desirable.
