User Interface Designer

Description -

This role is responsible for designing and enhancing the overall experience that users have while interacting with a product, service, or system. The role applies user-centered design principles to create seamless user journeys, intuitive interfaces, and meaningful interactions. The role collaborates with software engineers to ensure designs are technically feasible and aligned with development constraints. The role also drives creation of wireframes, prototypes, and mockups to visualize and communicate design concepts.

What a UI Designer does at HP:

  • Analyzes or designs user experience solutions for products and service lines based on established design principles and in accordance with design strategy, practices, and guidelines.
  • Tests and gathers user experience data in accordance with established research plans and specifications; analyzes, describes, and reports results to design stakeholders.
  • Assesses, develops and implements portions of user experience design plans, changes, specifications, and reusable design elements for new and existing products.
  • Collaborates and communicates with internal and outsourced development partners on user experience design and development.
  • Works with user experience research teams and creates prototypes to conduct usability tests and user research.
  • Translates concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.
  • Ensures that branding and illustrations are implemented correctly inside of products, presentations, and other experiences.
  • Participates as a member of project team of other user experience designers and internal and outsourced design and development partners to develop holistic, high-quality user experience solutions for low to moderately- complex projects, products, and services.
  • Collaborates closely with members of the experience design team to ensure that designs meet requirements and goals are of high quality.

Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:

  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Design, Human Factors Engineering, Social Sciences research, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically has 2-4 years of work experience, preferably in design principles, human factors engineering, social sciences research, or a related field or an advanced degree with little or no work experience.
  • Passion for Data Visualization. Experience with Power BI is a plus.
  • Candidate should have experience and comfort with Figma. 1+ year as primary tool is ideal.
  • Ideal candidates have worked within a Corporate Design System. Familiarity with HP Veneer is a plus.
  • Ideal candidates enjoy multi-tasking and tend to prefer several small projects to one large one.
  • Ideal candidates have experience working on globally distributed teams. This role will interact with team members in the United States as well as in Romania.
