Position Overview:

As part of the talented Freedom Boat Club Accounts Receivable team, you will be responsible for processing and monitoring incoming payments, initiating collections on accounts that are past due and resolving account discrepancies. You will interact regularly with our boat club members; as well as those in accounting and customer service; and will be overseeing a high volume of transactions on a monthly basis. A successful applicant will be an experienced Accounts Receivable professional with a demonstrated ability to manage a small team of analysts and drive a culture of efficiency and accountability.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and motivate a team of AR Specialists to drive strategic outcomes, including minimizing our bad debt exposure 
  • Monitor and report out weekly on AR aging and summarize key insights to identify trends 
  • Provide recommendations and implement solutions for more efficient collections processes  
  • Partner with Operations to implement and maintain controls to reduce volume of delinquent accounts 
  • Identify opportunities to automate or redesign processes to support overall Freedom Accounting initiatives 
  • Assist with completing the Accounts Receivable tasks, including but not limited to:  
  • Maintain accurate records in Oracle ERP, updating the records with changes to personal or payment information 
  • Communicate with members to request payment and arrange payment plans  
  • Provide proactive customer communication regarding delinquent accounts 
  • Assist with month-end close and prepare general ledger journal entries 
  • Assist with Franchise Invoicing  
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations including reconciliation of bank/cash accounts 
  • Staff training & development 
  • Regularly review employee performance

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 
  • 5 Years’ experience in a supervisory or management Role within Accounts Receivable 
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel 
  • Strong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, and multi-tasking skills  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Oracle ERP experience is highly preferred  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed with ability to meet established deadlines  
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional process changes 
  • Must be highly organized, analytical, detail oriented, and a self-starter  
  • Experience with data entry, record keeping, and computer operation  
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment 
  • Must have a positive, team player attitude and a strong customer service orientation

Working Conditions:

  • This position is hybrid, with an on-site requirement of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
  • Occasional domestic travel (3-4 trips per year)
