Job Description Summary

Student employees are a highly vital part of the Athletics department. We rely on students to accomplish a significant portion of the work necessary for the day-to-day operations of our department. If you are hired as an Athletic Student Worker, you will assist in various department areas centered around your preference. Your assigned work and tasks will be based on your commitment to the job. If you take the job seriously and use it as real-world experience, you will be given tasks that allow you to grow and develop, giving you more responsibility.

Job Description

Duties and Tasks: 

The Athletic Department Student Worker would work in one of the areas below and may perform such duties below but are not limited to:

Athletic Communications – In-game stats, in-game broadcast operations for SSC Digital Network, graphic design, public address, office tasks, social media, in-game related work could also include working scoreboards, public address, field level table work, and running stats to coaches, writing

Sports Medicine: Laundry, stocking supplies and inventory, setting up and breaking down for all home game events and practices, office tasks, cleaning (treatment tables, coolers, bottles, gators, etc.).

Business Operations – Budget reconciliation, inventory management, financial reporting, assist with team travel.

Compliance Office – Assist the compliance department with various office tasks, including data entry, filing, and scanning.

Game Operations and Facility Management – Setup/Breakdown for home contests and events, in-game event operations, and day-to-day facility management

Tickets and Concessions – Sell tickets, concessions, and merchandise at all home games, prepare hot food for home events, as well as inventory and financial reporting.  

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

Federal Work-Study is preferable, but Non-Federal Work-Study students are encouraged to apply. All qualifications below are not needed to apply:

Knowledge:

  • Proficient in Office 365
  • Awareness of general office skills and decorum a plus

Skills:

  • Dependable, able to prioritize and organize, multi-task, creative thinker, outgoing, reliable, punctual, willing, and able to take charge.
  • Have experience with customer service
  • Work well with others in individual and group settings
  • Previous knowledge, training, or experience is preferred but not required

Abilities:

  • Hours will vary depending on the area you are hired to work in. Most areas require individuals to work nights and weekends. 
  • Some lifting of objects up to 50 lbs. and bending and reaching may be required in some positions.
  • Exposure to inclement weather for long periods in some positions
  • Ability to balance many tasks and responsibilities simultaneously
  • Ability to manage time and stress for self and others
