Sr. Analyst – Promotional Planning, Market Division

 

Role Mandate

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Promotional Planning, the Senior Analyst will join the Promotion Planning team to support flyer and strategy planning, flyer review, promotional execution, and process optimization across the Market Division.

This role combines promotional planning expertise with strong technical and analytical capabilities. The Senior Analyst will support the achievement of promotional investment targets by using data, automation, and business insights to guide banner-specific flyer programs, PC Optimum initiatives, vendor partner advertising, and core promotional activity across print and digital channels.

The successful candidate will play a key role in improving the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of promotional planning processes. This includes identifying opportunities for automation, streamlining workflows, enhancing reporting capabilities, improving data quality, and supporting business change initiatives that simplify how promotional programs are planned, reviewed, and executed.

As part of a cross-functional team, the Senior Analyst will leverage data science concepts, analytics tools, and structured problem-solving to identify business opportunities and integrate solutions into core merchandising and promotional planning processes. Areas of focus may include promotional performance analysis, price elasticity and optimization, assortment optimization, customer segmentation, loyalty offer targeting, portfolio management, flyer space optimization, and process automation.

The ideal candidate is technically curious, analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with large data sets, business systems, and cross-functional stakeholders. They are passionate about using data-driven insights, automation, and continuous improvement to support strategic decision-making and deliver measurable business results.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will support the planning, execution, analysis, and continuous improvement of promotional flyer programs across the division. Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the creation, maintenance, and governance of the national flyer calendar, ensuring alignment to timelines, business priorities, promotional budgets, and planning guardrails.
  • Manage promotional planning timelines, workflows, and processes to ensure consistency, compliance, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee flyer development and flyer review while ensuring adherence to divisional brand standards, advertising compliance, and data accuracy requirements.
  • Lead promotional initiatives from planning through execution, using structured tracking, reporting, and issue resolution to ensure deliverables are completed on time.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to build, validate, and execute promotional flyer programs across print and digital channels.
  • Assist in the development of short- and long-term promotional strategies by analyzing promotional performance, flyer space utilization, customer behavior, and business trends.
  • Optimize print and digital flyer space across core promotional programs, PC Optimum offers, vendor partner advertising, and banner-specific initiatives.
  • Use data and analytics to identify promotional opportunities, measure performance, and support recommendations that drive sales, profit, customer engagement, and market share.
  • Identify manual, repetitive, or inefficient processes and recommend opportunities for automation, standardization, and workflow improvement.
  • Develop, enhance, or support reporting tools, dashboards, trackers, and automated processes that improve visibility, decision-making, and execution accuracy.
  • Support business change initiatives by documenting current-state processes, identifying pain points, defining future-state solutions, and helping teams adopt improved ways of working.
  • Collaborate with merchandising, marketing, loyalty, operations, vendor partners, and technical teams to ensure promotional programs are data-informed, executable, and aligned to business objectives.
  • Apply data science and analytical concepts to support areas such as price elasticity, assortment optimization, customer segmentation, loyalty targeting, portfolio management, and promotional effectiveness.

 

What You’ll Need

  • Post secondary undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to convert data into insights, insights into recommendations, and recommendations into actionable business plans.
  •  Programming experience with SQL and Python, R, or another programming language used for data analysis, automation, or reporting.
  • Knowledge of data science and AI concepts, including machine learning, prescriptive analytics, predictive modelling, optimization, or related analytical methods.
  • Experience working with large data sets, dashboards, reporting tools, trackers, or business planning systems.
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and support efficiencies through automation, workflow optimization, and business change.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to manage timelines, coordinate multiple priorities, and deliver accurate work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on data accuracy, compliance, and execution quality.
  • Outstanding team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional business and technical teams.
  • Self-starter with strong time management skills, curiosity, and a continuous improvement mindset.
