The Program Manager provides strategic leadership for local nursing quality initiatives in partnership with the enterprise nursing quality team. Serving as the site lead for nursing-sensitive quality data reporting to the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI), this role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timely submission of performance data.
The Program Manager champions continuous performance improvement by advancing initiatives that enhance quality outcomes, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and evidence-based nursing practice. In addition, the role leads the organization's Magnet Recognition Program® or Pathway to Excellence® Program, ensuring alignment with the standards established by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
A caregiver in this position works days, 8:00am—4:30pm
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Monitor and analyze quality outcomes, including nursing-sensitive quality data.
Manage all aspects of the collection, administration, benchmarking, and dissemination of the NDNQI database and nursing-sensitive indicators.
Develop and assure process to monitor performance and identify where intervention is needed.
Collaborate with nursing and organizational leadership to develop annual key performance indicators and to drive local improvements to meet the goals.
Provide written and verbal data reviews to nursing and other leaders, including executive leadership.
Partner with other departments to support and implement best practices.
Collaborate with safety, quality, and patient experience professionals and nursing leadership to implement actionable items related to quality performance and compliance to standards of care.
Drive continuous improvement activities around quality, safety, and patient experience priorities and coordinates improvement projects.
Manage change to ensure the adoption and sustainment of quality improvement.
Manage all aspects of the Magnet process from application to maintenance of
Communicate with Magnet appraisers and reapplies for Magnet designation as appropriate.
Provide leadership and guidance to internal and external nursing colleagues regarding Magnet/Pathways gap analysis, status, goals, and programs.
Provide the interim reporting required by ANCC between the designation processes and is a liaison for Cleveland Clinic with the ANCC national office.
Collaborate with nursing leadership to comply with Magnet/Pathway standards.
Facilitate Magnet/Pathway steering committee and Magnet/Pathway ambassador program.
Manage all aspects of the Magnet/Pathway process, from application to maintenance of certification.
Serve as a coach and mentor.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Quality or nursing leadership certification within two years
Registered Nurse (RN) with license in the current state of employment
5 years clinical nursing experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Nursing leadership experience
Inpatient/acute/bedside nursing experience in a hospital setting
Experience with project management or performance management activities
