JOB SUMMARY

We seek a Supplemental Instruction (SI) Coordinator to join the Marymount community to develop the Supplemental Instruction component of our Learning Resources offerings. This enhanced component will incorporate best practices in the field and will be located in the Student Academic Hub, which aspires to be the place that cultivates Marymount students’ intellectual curiosity and confidence as they explore and develop the skills to learn with purpose. The SI Coordinator will work collaboratively with Student Academic Hub professional staff and student leaders, faculty from our three colleges, and other departments on campus. The SI Coordinator will contribute significantly to creating and sustaining proactive academic peer support for students enrolled in historically difficult gateway and liberal arts core courses. The position reports to the Senior Director of the Student Academic Hub.


This position is grant-funded with continuation anticipated, based on funding.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designs, coordinates, and delivers all logistics of the Supplemental Instruction program
  • Directs Supplemental Instruction Leader assignments
  • Coordinates day-to-day operations of the Supplemental Instruction program
  • May teach TL-205 for SI Leaders during fall and spring semesters
  • Develops online SI presence and facilitates the marketing and promotion of the SI program
  • Works with Student Academic Hub staff on intentional interventions for students based on predictive analytics and uses Starfish retention tool to identify students at risk and respond accordingly
  • Assists with recruiting, selecting, training, supervising, and evaluating all SI Leaders
  • Assists with compiling data and drafting SI component for reports, applications, etc.
  • Collaborates with campus community members to develop appropriate programs in order to provide an effective supplemental instruction program
  • Contribute to the recommendations, development, and implementation of initiatives and changes to improve quality of Learning Resources offerings
  • Maintains an understanding of current ideas, research, and practices pertaining to the areas of responsibility through participating in professional conferences and other self-directed professional development activities

OTHER DUTIES AND ASSIGNMENTS

  • Meets individually with student learners.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree; Preferred: Master’s degree (MA, MS, MBA, etc.)

Experience

  • At least 1-2 years of related experience, in areas of advising, teaching, coaching and/or other forms of academic assistance, student support, and/or program development (consideration will be given to two years of undergraduate or graduate work in these same areas)

Special Knowledge

  • Understanding of and experience working in higher education; Microsoft Office Suite: particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Online video conferencing programs such Zoom and WebEx
  • Familiarity with retention tools (e.g., Starfish)
  • Willingness to embrace new technology
  • Familiarity with online tools and services such as Survey Monkey, Doodle, WordPress (or other active engagement with writing and/or publishing).
