Join our Manufacturing team in Brunswick, Maine and help create one of the most legendary products in outdoor history—the Maine Hunting Shoe, trusted by adventurers for over a century. While most positions will focus on stitching for the Maine Hunting Shoe, a small number of hires will join our Boat and Tote stitching line. We’re hiring stitchers and packers to bring these heritage products to life. Shift Availability 

  • 1st Shift: Mon–Fri, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM 

  • 2nd Shift: Mon–Fri, 2:45 PM–11:15 PM 

  • 3rd Shift: Sun 9:00 PM6:00 AM, Mon-Thu, 11:00 PM–6:00 AM (35-hour week) 

 

What You’ll Do 

  • Prep and stitch leather components for the Maine Hunting Shoe using post or flat sewing machines; a small portion of hires will work on the Boat and Tote stitching line working with canvas material. 

  • Inspect products for completeness, accuracy, and quality, cleaning excess cement, dirt, and clipping threads as needed. 

  • Ensure all line items (thread, components, hang tags, etc.) are correct. 

  • Pack products into proper containers, labeling cartons for warehousing. 

  • Fix issues when identified, provide feedback to peers, and alert QA if trends are noted. 

  • Verify FD labels, tags, and shipping cartons meet criteria for Freeport partners, Returns, and Outlet stores. 

  • Partner with QA liaison for reports and feedback and with Engineering for process improvements. 

  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Physical Demands 

  • Sitting/Standing: Some workstations are adjustable for sit/stand; expect frequent static posture and continuous use of foot controls. Standing ~20–50%, sitting ~50–80%, minimal walking on concrete floors with anti-fatigue mats. 

  • Lifting/Carrying: Occasional lifting of totes or materials up to 30 lbs (Shearling) and 15 lbs (Core/Closing); short carries (10–30 ft) when moving totes or racks. 

  • Hand/Arm Use: Continuous grasping and pinching; frequent fine manipulation for stitching and trimming threads; repetitive wrist and neck movements required for precision work. 

  • Other Movements: Occasional bending, squatting, and reaching below knees; no climbing or kneeling. Push/pull forces up to 15 lbs when moving carts or racks.
