The Sr Director, Medical Unmet Needs will play a critical role in identifying ideal assets for formal, data-backed Medical Unmet Needs programs across our pipeline and inline portfolio to support the creation of Strategic Scientific Objectives, understand the real-world data analytics results, shape strategies, optimize launches and to both improve confidence in delivering and measuring impact over time. This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure to that our Medical Affairs efforts are objectively aligned with the most pressing medical needs of patients and healthcare providers. This role will also ensure analytics leadership and guidance of the participating medical teams, as well as champion MUN methodology across Global Medical Affairs, sharing of best practices and ensuring cross team learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify the ideal archetype of asset for unmet needs programs to be done, including doing these programs early in an asset’s lifecycle.

  • Partner with teams to drive Medical Unmet Needs projects: leverage real world data sets as well as internal and external scientific knowledge to identify diagnostic and/or treatment-related medical needs in the target disease area to map the patient journey and associated gaps while maintaining integrity with all standard compliance frameworks and ethical standards.

  • Establish a global capability framework that enables scaling of respective methodologies and data-driven mindsets across disease areas in Global and Local teams.

  • Collaborate and lead across the matrix with other teams/functions across the Chief Patient Officer organization, Global Commercial, R&D and Tech.

  • Create robust business cases for investment in these projects at the earliest feasible stage in lifecycle.

  • Communicate clearly and simply for stakeholder and Medical Affairs/CPO leadership understanding; Translate technical concepts into easy to understand summaries and recommendations.

  • Use effective storytelling skills, and clear written and verbal communication to effectively share key insights and make fact-based recommendations that inspire usage for data-driven decision making.

  • Manage demand for MUN projects and establish a prioritization process in line with Global Medical Affairs business priorities.

  • Maintain a set of preferred suppliers to execute MUN studies where resources aren’t available in teams.

  • Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with relevant regulations, guidelines, and GSK policies.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Advanced degree in a healthcare or science discipline (e.g., MD, PhD, PharmD, MPH).

  • 7 + years of experience in medical affairs, clinical development, or a related field within the pharmaceutical, healthcare industry or life sciences consulting with a focus on Medical Affairs.

  • Experience in Strategic Medical Affairs roles within a global Pharma Company at Director level or above.

  • Experience in asset/above-asset or organizational strategy and in defining or measuring KPIs or OKRs for medical teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Experience in both office-based and field- based roles.

  • Experience using Real World data to drive business goals.

  • Understanding of healthcare data landscape in across the world.

  • Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Executive presence and influencing skills.

  • Strong business acumen and experience building investment cases.

  • Strong networking skills and an ability to achieve through engaging the co-operation of others.

  • Competitive mindset; feels driven to conquer uncharted territory

  • MBA in addition to above.
