Dow has an opportunity as an Accounting Specialist based in São Paulo (BRA). This position plays a key role as Entity Accounting Leader ensuring accuracy and integrity of the financial statements and supports the management and the Senior Accounting Leader in the Financial and Statutory Accounting.
Responsibilities:
Preparation of financial statement footnotes and supporting schedules
Accountable for providing assistance with the monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting close;
Assists with implementing accounting policies and procedures to ensure all financial transactions are executed according to GAAP and IFRS principles;
Preparations of fluctuation analysis and performance of financial statement analytics, providing meaningful explanations for fluctuations provided to senior management;
Implementation and documentation of internal controls and procedures as required by SOX;
Participation in process streamlining and improvement projects;
In charge of annual financial audits and quarterly reviews with external auditors, including preparation and review of schedules;
Interacting with internal and external stakeholders;
Coordinating closely with the other finance teams to ensure complete and accurate accruals;
Support the leadership with accounting analysis;
Planning and structuring work activities and setting deadlines, monitoring the progress and results.
Giving support for unusual transactions;
Representing F&S in Special projects (M&A).
Participates in various accounting functions including and not limited to: general ledger maintenance, review of the financial scorecard, US GAAP to Statutory, reconciliations, ensure compliance to operational policies and processes;
Qualifications:
Bachelor´s Degree in Accounting with active Brazilian Accounting Certification (CRC)
Expertise in Brazilian GAAP and applicable accounting rules and regulations.
Understanding of US GAAP and applicable accounting rules and regulations
Experience working with SAP/ECC
Five or more years of relevant work experience preferred in the manufactory industry
Experience in the preparation and review of financial statements, external audit attendance, general ledger posting and accounting reconciliation;
Knowledge of SOX, US GAAP, and IFRS accounting best practices and, cross-functional accounting impacts
Advanced English Level.
Preferred Skills
Intermediate/Advanced Spanish – not mandatory but will be considered a plus.
Strong interpersonal relationship, teamwork, collaborative and hands on
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organization and problem solving skills
