About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Intelligent Audio Team in Harman Research. In this role, you will lead the end-to-end integration of Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) into complex embedded and Linux-based systems, ensuring seamless interoperability, consistent cross-platform behavior, and outstanding performance. 

You will work on scalable, reusable wireless architectures that operate across multiple device categories, delivering unified and user-friendly experiences. This includes architecting solutions that are designed for multi-protocol interoperability.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including researchers, software developers, and UX designers—to deliver wireless features that are technically robust, aligned with unified design principles, and ready for integration into Harman’s broader ecosystem. From concept to productization, you will transform early-stage prototypes into scalable solutions that enhance the user experience across diverse platforms. 

What You Will Do

• Architect and develop software for using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, and Ultra-Wideband on embedded Linux-based systems
• Design and implement chipset-agnostic and OS-independent wireless solutions to ensure consistent behavior across platforms.
• Evaluate and optimize algorithm and system performance using dedicated testing frameworks.
• Author technical reports, white papers, and patents.
• Collaborate with commercialization teams to transfer new technologies into products.
• Ensure cross-platform wireless integration aligns with performance, security, and UX standards.
• Apply real-time embedded software and wireless communication expertise to deliver robust, scalable solutions.

What You Need to Be Successful

• Minimum of B.Sc. degree in one of the following fields: Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, etc. and 6 years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience with development of SW on Embedded platforms
• Strong knowledge of wireless protocols: Wi-Fi, BLE, and UWB
• Software development experience using C/C++
• Hands-on experience with continuous integration systems and Agile SW development (GIT)
• Fluency in developing multi-threaded and interrupt driven programs for real-time applications
• Experience with SDKs for audio development.

Bonus Points if You Have

• Experience with IoT frameworks (e.g. Matter)
• Experience with Linux/Tizen OS development
• Experience with Linux driver development
• Experience with wireless system measurements
• Experience in multi-ecosystem integration (e.g., home audio, mobile, automotive, professional).
• Understanding of industry standards bodies, interoperability challenges, and ecosystem constraints. 
• Track record of patents, publications, or standards contributions in wireless or audio domains. 
• Demonstrated ability to design scalable architectures supporting multiple product lines.
