Role Description:

We are looking for a Senior Gameplay Programmer to join our Firesprite studio, working on a dark, story-driven 'Narrative Adventure' with genre defining goals. This huge, highly ambitious project takes atmosphere, storytelling, player agency and narrative firmly into ground-breaking territory on next-generation hardware technologies.

This project has AAA ambitions with a heavy focus on art, animation and delivering unique character performances to heighten player presence and immersion to new levels.

Ideally we would love individuals to be based in the studio for 1-3 days per week, but we may consider those who have a preference for remote working in the UK.

What you'll be doing:

  • Work closely with other teams to build gameplay features and systems.
  • Develop a range of underlying systems to support gameplay and flow.
  • Writing scalable and reusable code with performance in mind.
  • Maintaining, extending, and optimising existing game systems and features.
  • Ensuring overall build performance and stability throughout all stages of development.
  • Taking ownership of features & documenting the work accordingly.
  • Mentoring more junior members of the team.

What we're looking for:

  • Several years' experience developing AAA console/PC titles.
  • Excellent knowledge of C++ and overall software engineering and debugging skills.
  • Keeping updated with recent advancements in technology.
  • 3D maths and problem-solving skills.
  • Unreal Engine 5 knowledge, including knowledge of Blueprints.
  • Ability to modify and extend existing complex systems.
  • Ability to work well with others in cross-discipline teams.
  • A passion for games and game creation.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with profiling and identifying CPU & GPU bottlenecks using industry standard tools.
  • Working knowledge of Perforce.
  • Experience with streaming systems and memory management.
  • Experience working on PlayStation hardware.
