Team Overview

Applied Materials’ Common Systems Software Department is searching for College Graduates to join our team! Our department develops the software for the control system of semiconductor process equipment. This includes developing interfaces for advanced sensors, designing the data and control flow, creating algorithms for the optimal material engineering on an atomic scale and the real-time control of devices such as robots, motors, generators, pumps and flow controllers. Other aspects of our work include the design of the user interface, data collection, storage and analysis, machine learning and analytics, remote access and security.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designs, prototypes and develops moderately difficult software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices
  • Designs common software modules and libraries for use across multiple products
  • Troubleshoots a variety of moderately difficult software problems. Designs and implements bug fixes
  • Defines software specifications
  • Suggests and implements improvements to the development and troubleshooting process
  • Develops software documentation
  • Contributes to technical review boards for assigned programs
  • Interfaces with internal and external customers for requirement analysis, project schedule and software troubleshooting
     

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency and experience in C and C++ is required.

In addition, programming experience in several of the following areas is desired:
- Real-time Control
- Motion Control
- Embedded Programming
- Multi-threading, performance profiling
- C#, .NET
- gRPC, REST, TCP sockets
- Generative AI
- Visual Studio

Education

  • Graduating with a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field

U.S. Salary Range:

$124,000.00 - $170,500.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
