Red Hat’s Office of the CTO is seeking a highly motivated Associate Software Engineer to join us and help accelerate adoption and development of emerging technologies into our portfolio. In this role, you will be a developing and valued member of our Emerging Technologies team with focus on developing proof of concepts, working with upstream communities and downstream product teams on emerging AI influenced trends around the future of the software and platforms architectures, for running AI applications. This is an excellent opportunity to craft and hone your skills while working with many modern languages, frameworks, and technologies, for edge development and AI (inference, distributed inference, agents, workflows), including Python, PyTorch, Golang, Kubernetes, OpenShift, vLLM, and llm-d.

What You’ll Do:

• Make contributions in a technical environment, from coding to architecture.
• Work closely with other team members (in person and remote).
• Assist with the planning, fulfilment and delivery of communicated goals.
• Contribute to open-source (upstream) projects. 
• Be an advocate for Red Hat solutions and technologies.
• Develop operational Proof of Concept (POC) implementations.
• Work with and adapt to a modern AI technology stack, including (but not limited to) vLLM/inference, llm-d/distributed inference, Agentic AI, AI Agents, LLMs, LLM workflows, MCP, A2A, PyTorch, Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Work with Edge Stack (e.g. MLOps at the Edge, Edge Inference Server).

What You’ll Bring

• Experience as a software engineer with experience in any of the following languages: Golang, Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Keen interest in open source and contributing to and building communities.
• Open source contribution.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies, frameworks and techniques.
• Excellent communication skills to work as part of a broader, distributed team.
• Ability to develop software with an eye for software quality.
• Containerisation and container-orchestration technologies, such as Kubernetes.
• Experience with Automation, DevOps CI/CD tool kits such as Ansible, Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
• Experience of Generative AI productivity enhancement tools .
• A growth mindset.
