Linklaters is a global law firm, providing legal services in 20 countries and through 30 offices.

Linklaters is a people business. Being best in class in the eyes of our clients means that our people must be exceptional.

We look not only for brilliant minds, but for people who will thrive in our environment: people who love working collaboratively and demonstrate the innovative, efficient, agile, entrepreneurial, and responsible mind-set we aim to bring to every interaction.

Ours is an environment of outperformance. We achieve this not with targets and incentives, but by fostering a positive, supportive, fair, and open atmosphere.

We respect and value difference but insist on inclusivity. We celebrate all aspects of diversity and challenge any form of bias. This is vital to our ability to work as one team, with a common goal.

The Role:

As a Resource Manager for our busy Litigation, Arbitration, and Investigation (LAI) and Energy & Infrastructure (E&I) teams, you will play a central part in maximising the effective, fair allocation and development of legal talent. Working closely with partners, lawyers, and business teams each day, you will help ensure the right people are matched to the right matters, supporting both excellent client service and the growth of our lawyers.

This is a people-focused, collaborative role supporting two dynamic practices. You will:

  • Build strong relationships to anticipate resourcing needs and support colleagues across the practices.
  • Assist partners in staffing matters and team management, weighing utilisation, skillsets, team objectives and development needs.
  • Monitor workloads and anticipate pipeline challenges, including upcoming absences and business priorities.
  • Provide management information to support strategic decisions, reporting on utilisation, challenges, and other relevant issues.
  • Support the annual appraisal process and engagement initiatives.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with associates to discuss development needs and escalate concerns as needed.
  • Ensure trainees, new joiners, secondees, and returning colleagues are integrated and engaged with our resource allocation processes.
  • Collaborate with other resource managers and business teams to optimise our approach and enhance our reputation for excellence and integration.
  • Play an active role in supporting our commitment to diversity, inclusion, wellbeing, and team culture.

What we're looking for:

We are seeking a hard-working, ambitious, and energetic team player with a passion for people development and excellent client service. Ideally, you will bring experience as a resource manager or people manager in a professional environment, although we welcome applications from other sectors.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at every level.
  • Commercial awareness and a practical approach to solving resourcing challenges.
  • Commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion within the team and the allocation of work.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo with professionalism and discretion, handling sensitive information responsibly.
  • Collaborative spirit and willingness to support a fast-paced, high-performing and supportive team culture.
  • Experience in the legal, client services, or financial services sector is helpful but not essential; transferable skills from other industries are valued.

If you thrive in a dynamic environment where people are at the heart of every decision and want to make a practical difference every day, we would love to hear from you.
