Position Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 - Alcohol and Other Drugs (Correctional Health)
Employment Type: Maximum term, full-time
Hours per week: 38
Position Grade: Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2
Salary: $109,945.46 to $113,556.22 per annum

About the role:

A vacancy exists at Parklea Correctional Health for a highly motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team.

The successful applicant will be expected to provide a broad range of services for patients within Parklea Correctional Centre including assessment and management of intoxication and withdrawal states, assessment and management of patients requesting to commence on an Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT) program or who are being maintained on an OAT program whilst in custody.

Selection Criteria:

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.
  • Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency.
  • Relevant post-registration qualifications and at least three years’ experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within the interdisciplinary team at a senior level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated effective computer literacy with email and an electronic patient record system.
  • Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice as a registered nurse.
  • Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to prioritise competing workloads within a complex environment.

St Vincent’s is contracted by leading service providers MTC Broad-spectrum to deliver health services to Parklea Correctional Centre – a major Sydney prison with capacity for 1,816 male inmates.
