The Ultra Engineering function manages a portfolio of specialist capabilities, generating highly differentiated solutions and products by applying electronic, mechanical, and software technologies in demanding and critical environments to meet customer needs.

Job Description

Project Engineers are responsible for technical execution and work closely with Program Managers contributing technical content to programmatic artifacts and deliverables (risk registers, monthly reports and program reviews, etc.) and in some cases Project Engineers may lead smaller (typically internally funded) projects without a Program Manager.

Project Engineers are accountable for the technical content of bid and proposal activities including Proposal Technical Volume content, WBS structure and dictionary, as well as cost estimation and basis of estimates.

A professional at this grade applies technical / professional knowledge, making independent judgements based on practice and significant previous experience to support decision making. Often seen as a referral point or more senior team member to escalate more complex problems. Roles will act independently with minimal guidance and may act as project managers/formal mentors for junior staff.

·Essential Duties:

• Plans, authorizes, and monitors the engineering work (including providing strong leadership to ensure all events occur as planned)
• Oversees performance, cost, scope and schedule for all engineering efforts (including efforts that are subcontracted)
• Develops and maintains engineering plans as required by the project
• Identifies, develops, analyzes, and reports engineering project measures
• Conducts monthly engineering status reviews and provides material for the monthly program reviews

Required Skills:

• Technical leadership experience with 10-20 member teams
• Must possess excellent oral presentations skills
• Be able to maintain the engineering team's focus on budget, schedule, and technical execution
• Good communication skills, writing skills, and teamwork skills are required
• Available to travel 10%-20%
• Be proficient in the use of collaboration tools to support the distributed nature of the work
• Demonstrated leadership skills
• Demonstrated planning and organization skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of tools and Microsoft Project
• Demonstrated ability to communicate issues, impacts, and corrective actions
• Demonstrated ability to understand and apply project leadership principles including SPI/CPI, Earned Value, Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls for large complex programs

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
• DoD Secret or higher security clearance
• Project Management Professional certified
