Purpose of the Role
The incumbent is required to handle Financial Line claims of intermediate complexity, involving professional indemnity liability, D&O, Fidelity and Crime, Bankers Blanket Bond, etc.
Reporting line: Direct reporting line to Financial Line Claims Team Manager
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Functional Responsibilities:
Managing key claims handling enquiry; coverage determination, quantum analysis and legal liability assessment where appropriate within authority limits and providing a consistently strong standard of customer service
Ensuring effective vendor and litigation management on Complex claims within a personal allocation
Broadening internal / external stakeholder communication where required
Striving for continuous improvement on claim file handling with feedback and support through the Quality Assurance Review processes
Contributing to maintenance of best practice procedures for Financial Line intermediate to high value Complex claims, consistent with global best practice
Demonstrating a high standard of technical claims competence.
2. Accountabilities:
Timely, accurate and customer focused claim resolution, minimizing indemnity exposure and mitigating vendor and legal expense.
Consistent proactive claims handling on an ongoing basis (i.e. initial file review, investigations and liability, negotiations and settlement, and litigation management)
Effective communication to internal and external stakeholders
Financial control through consistent reserve and other financial transaction discipline
Accurate and consistent policy interpretation
3. Qualification/Skills
At least 3 years of experience in adjusting D&O and Professional Indemnity claims and/or other categories of Financial Line claims. Those with less experience in financial line claims, or those with experience in other line of insurance products whether as a claims handler or underwriter but want a change, will be considered subject to the candidate demonstrating the right attitude, the ability to learn fast and other skills/qualifications required for this role.
Strong communication skills, both written & verbal in English. Ability to write and speak Chinese is definitely an advantage.
Time management – ability to manage & prioritize workload and diary management.
Ability to contribute and work effectively within a team environment.
Ability to work with various stakeholders to effectively to direct claims strategy and result.
Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation
A strong knowledge of Hong Kong legal / regulatory requirements and litigation procedures, as well as experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration and ADR are definitely an advantage.
