What part will you play?

  • The Material Handler reports to the Materials Manager. The Material Handler must be familiar with all areas of safe operations. The Material Handler is responsible for all order picking, order verification and issuing material to the shop floor. The ideal candidate thrives in environments where safety, quality, service and cost are the highest priorities.

What will you do?

  • Practices incident and accident prevention, demonstrating safe behavior in all activities

  • Troubleshoots work related issues and communicates issues with maintenance, process, and equipment techs

  • Works safely, and is responsible for housekeeping in his/her work areas at all times

  • Prioritizes work assignments by meeting with maintenance, process, equipment techs, and Supervisor every morning and throughout the day

  • Participate in Cycle Counting events when needed, able to adjust schedule to meet inventory deadlines 

  • Learns safety hazards and job procedures by reading and understanding Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA)

  • Learns software programs by reading and understanding manuals and procedures

  • Suggests improvements in work methods and procedures by communicating to Materials Manager

  • Trouble shoots and communicates any work related issues with Materials Manager

  • Performs other duties as instructed by the Materials Manager

  • Daily review of email and department communication; maintains a good attendance record

  • Maintains a positive working relationship with all plant employees and other business contacts

  • Uses process improvement tools to drive continuous improvement of the plant and business processes

  • Observe what needs to be done and take initiative to perform this work

What do we require from you?

  • Frequent walking and standing; occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and balancing

  • Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone

  • Required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects, tools and product samples

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

  • Must continuously have the ability to differentiate colors precisely

  • Required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch

  • Ability to perform detailed testing processes in various process conditions

  • Frequent use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of manufacturing equipment and machinery

  • Ability to read and concentrate via computer data entry typing and proofreading

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
