As the Manager, Security Operations & Advisory you will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Qantas Group Duty Security Controller function. You will provide advisory services to all business units within the Qantas Group, focussing on regulatory compliance and security risk management across our global network. This position provides critical security advice to the Head of Aviation & Corporate Security and Chief Security Officer to ensure the effective protection of the Group’s people, assets and brand. You will provide operational advice, guidance and reporting to senior management of the flying businesses, ensuring that security related policies and other requirements are fully implemented across the global network. 
 

Primarily, this position will oversee security operations impacting parts of our international network,  and will work closely with stakeholders in these regions to ensure an effective and aligned assurance program is delivered across the network, including all Qantas, Jetstar and Jetstar Branded Airline security operations. 
 

You’ll have – 

  • 10+ years experience in a relevant, mid-senior level security position 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, with further studies in security or aviation related fields being highly desirable  

  • Prior experience in government administration, including intelligence or security agencies 

  • Experience working in an international environment, with people from diverse cultural backgrounds 

  • A thorough understanding of applicable security compliance and regulatory requirements 

  • Strong interpersonal/consultancy skills with an ability to interact with staff and customers at all levels 

  • Understanding of operational issues, threat and risk assessment, computerised information systems 

  • A strong working knowledge of the aviation security environment is highly desirable   

  • Previous experience managing, mentoring and coaching a team 

  • A willingness to travel frequently both domestically and internationally
