Job Summary:

To manage and administer Ancillary Services that support the Operating Rooms Supply Management Systems, ensuring the effective delivery of Peri-Operative Services. To oversee the OR Central Supply Program and supervise staff across all assigned operating rooms and special areas.

Education & Experience

Education and Experience Required:

Degree (Associate’s or Bachelor’s) and three (3) years of experience in surgical support services, healthcare supply chain, or materials management including one (1) year of leadership experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and services ordering and inventory control. Knowledge of asepsis techniques. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills to interact with staff, subordinates, and management. Ability to train, supervise, and support employees.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and provides daily management of supply chain inventory operations in the operating rooms at UMMC, including supply distribution and replenishment, case cart preparation, special order coordination, receiving and delivery, inventory control, and coordinated supply support for Peri-Operative areas.
  • Supervises personnel, including work allocation, scheduling, training, performance support, and problem resolution.
  • Develops and implements systems to ensure the proper, efficient, and economical use and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and facilities.
  • Determines, monitors, and maintains appropriate inventory levels of supplies and equipment.
  • Conducts inventory and inspection of equipment and supplies; maintains accurate records and databases; and coordinates delivery and retrieval of equipment and supplies throughout the facility.
  • Provides training and coaching to subordinate staff to ensure job competency, safety, and compliance with established standards.
  • Ensures assigned areas and personnel comply with Joint Commission standards and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Purchases, receives, stocks, and distributes materials; tracks supply and equipment usage; and supports cost-control initiatives.
  • Ensures adherence to policies and regulations related to processing, preparation, sterilization, decontamination, and distribution.
  • Participates in departmental safety meetings and required medical testing to support workplace safety and health compliance.
