About This Role

*This is role is based in Tokyo*

We are looking for a strong product leader to lead our Japan product and be responsible to drive the product-led growth for the business. 

The Director of Product  will be responsible for collaborating with Commercial, Marketing and Customer Happiness teams to define a coherent vision for the subscriber growth,retention  and define and drive the overall product strategy to support this outcome. This will include identifying the right user segments for growth, defining new opportunities for solving user needs through innovative telecom and non-telecom products and creating a seamless purchase and onboarding journey to drive higher conversion rate.

The Director Product  will lead a team of  product managers, in addition to driving some of the larger strategic initiatives directly. This role reports to the Global Head of Product. 

Responsibilities

  • Define the product vision, strategy, life-cycle, and goals for the product team to achieve the business objectives.
  • Lead an aligned product organization to create, own, and evangelize a product roadmap that enables near-term and future business growth. Drive iterative prioritization efforts by translating business strategy into product principles.
  • Establish a clear and agile product development process which incorporates design thinking and prioritizes delivering the most value to the business. The product development process should be based on hypothesis, data, user feedback, and is biased towards action.
  • Recruit, mentor, and coach a high performing product team.
  • Partner effectively with stakeholders across the company to achieve business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Min 12-15 years of experience in product management, design, and/or product development, with a track record of creating successful consumer internet products.
  • Must be well versed in Japanese
  • Experienced in leading world-class product teams through various phases of the product life cycle..
  • Passionate user of consumer internet product, with a deep understanding of underlying technologies.
  • People-first leader with experience in leading and developing a diverse team.
  • Strong communicator with experience working with a globally distributed team across multiple time zones.
  • Ability to prioritize among many competing alternatives and plans, balance customer needs with business priorities, and articulate the rationale behind decisions made throughout the process.
  • Entrepreneurial, analytical, and organized, with a bias for action.
  • Scaled consumer products is an added advantage 
  • Degree in Computer Science, related field, or comparable work experience.
