Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Director of Solution Software Research and Performance, the Research Engineer will play a crucial role in developing and implementing performance measurement and analysis techniques for our next-generation logistics solutions. This position is at the forefront of innovative research, aimed at significantly improving the efficiency and performance of our next-generation automated distribution centres.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop advanced techniques for measuring, analyzing, and predicting the performance of complex logistics systems.
  • Design and conduct scientific experiments, using discrete event simulation and other approaches as experimental environments.
  • Analyze and present experimental data using appropriate statistical methods.
  • Collaborate with various research teams across the organization to influence roadmaps and identify research technologies for commercialization.
  • Apply system thinking to integrate multiple technologies and disciplines into cohesive logistics solutions.
  • Research and adapt advanced applied mathematical techniques from related fields to solve unique logistics design and performance evaluation challenges.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative methodologies that provide competitive advantages in logistics solution design and performance optimization.
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality presentations and reports for both internal teams and external customers.

Tasks and Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Strong formal academic background in mathematics or a mathematically intensive discipline, with a solid foundation in advanced mathematical concepts.
  • Aptitude for innovative mathematical thinking and ability to apply complex mathematical principles to real-world problems.
  • Strong background in applied statistics and experimental design.
  • Working knowledge of Queueing Theory and its applications.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics software system analysis.
  • Experience with system integration and interdisciplinary projects.
  • Background in or exposure to fields demonstrating systems thinking.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to write technical documents, give presentations, and collaborate effectively in person and via digital platforms.
  • Experience presenting to both internal teams and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Alteryx.
