Job Description: The Administrative Intern will be responsible for completing a variety of hospital-wide projects that align with the mission and vision of the organization during this 8-10-week summer internship. The Intern will report to a senior level leader within the organization who will guide potential projects and foster an enriching educational experience, while also helping build core leadership competencies. The Administrative Intern will be asked to attend a variety of leadership meetings to gain a better understanding of the organization and will have opportunities to shadow within areas of their interest. The internship also serves as an opportunity for the Intern to identify and evaluate areas of interest within pediatric healthcare and academic medicine. At the end of the summer, the Administrative Intern provide a brief presentation to senior leaders to highlight their internship achievements.

Education and Skills:

1.    Bachelor’s degree in business, nursing, finance, or related field and has completed the first year of a Master's degree in health care administration, business administration, or related field.
2.    Analytical skills necessary to plan and develop activities impacting hospital-wide or departmental operations, to work with special projects, and to develop, prepare, and analyze various reports.
3.    Communication skills, both oral and written, necessary to prepare clear and concise reports and make effective recommendations and formal presentations.

Job Duties:

1.    Demonstrates effective behaviors as outlined in the organization-wide core competencies.
2.    Completes a comprehensive orientation to the operations of the Medical Center in order to provide the participant with an opportunity to develop basic skills in hospital management and gain a better understanding of pediatric healthcare, Lurie Children’s and its related entities.
3.    Gathering, investigating, researching, analyzing, and/or studying activities impacting hospital-wide or intra/interdepartmental operations.
4.    Attends meetings as needed and participating on committees as needed.
5.    Completing other special projects or assignments as directed.
6.    Other job functions as assigned.
