Job Description: Tech Evangelist – Software Engineering Excellence & AI Enablement

We are seeking a passionate and strategic Tech Evangelist to join our software engineering organization. This role is pivotal in inspiring, guiding, and enabling engineering teams to elevate their practices around software delivery, architecture, development processes, and the adoption of AI-driven tools and workflows.

As a Tech Evangelist, you’ll work cross-functionally to identify improvement areas, champion best practices, and accelerate innovation across engineering teams. You’ll serve as both an internal thought leader and hands-on collaborator to drive the evolution of our engineering culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote Engineering Best Practices
    • Evangelize modern software engineering methodologies, architectural patterns, DevOps, CI/CD, and agile/lean principles.
    • Identify and share internal and industry best practices to improve code quality, team velocity, and scalability.
  • Drive Technical Enablement
    • Collaborate with engineers, leads, and managers to assess current development practices and help design improvements across tools, workflows, and processes.
    • Organize and lead technical sessions, workshops, guilds, and knowledge-sharing forums.
  • AI Adoption & Integration
    • Identify opportunities to apply AI/ML in the software development lifecycle (e.g., AI pair programming, code review automation, intelligent testing, observability).
    • Act as an internal champion for AI-assisted development, helping teams evaluate and integrate AI tools effectively and ethically.
  • Architectural Guidance
    • Work with teams to assess and improve system architectures, ensuring they align with long-term scalability, maintainability, and business goals.
    • Facilitate architectural reviews and promote shared architectural principles across engineering teams.
  • Inspire a Culture of Continuous Improvement
    • Act as a change agent, helping teams embrace continuous learning, experimentation, and iterative improvement.
    • Partner with leadership to identify technical bottlenecks and lead initiatives to remove them.
  • Thought Leadership & Evangelism
    • Produce technical content (e.g., blogs, whitepapers, internal documentation) to share knowledge and success stories.
    • Represent the engineering organization in internal forums and, where appropriate, external communities.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering or architecture roles, with hands-on experience across multiple parts of the SDLC.
  • Deep understanding of software development methodologies, CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Strong experience with modern programming languages and engineering ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML tools used in software development (e.g., GitHub Copilot, automated test generation, LLMs in coding workflows).
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives and mentor others.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and inspire diverse technical audiences.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in developer advocacy, evangelism, or internal consulting roles.
  • Experience with technical training, enablement, or leading communities of practice.
  • Contributions to open-source or technical writing a plus.

Annual Salary

$130,000.00 - $260,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
