Job Description

Ready to steer the course in Financial Control and Project Management? Fugro Fleet Services is seeking an energetic Project Controller to join our team in Leidschendam, The Netherlands. You will be the bridge, the "interface" between Project Management and Finance, translating risks and operational events into meaningful financial results. You're the go-to Business Partner for the Project Director, Project Manager, and the entire project team.

As a Project Controller, you're not just a number-cruncher; you're the heartbeat of our project team. You're steering the financial control of one or more Fleet Services vessel projects with sustainability at the Helm. You embark with us on a unique journey as you contribute to sustainability projects at Fugro Fleet Services. Dive into key projects such as the conversion of both existing and new Geotechnical vessels, incorporating hybrid battery installations, methanol-driven combustion engines, and propulsion upgrades. Your skills will be crucial in integrating new remote operating technology in crewed vessels, pushing the boundaries of innovation. Your expertise ensures meaningful, accurate, and timely analysis and reporting on the financial performance of our projects.

Part of your role will involve short-term travel, a few weeks per year, depending on the project. During this time, you will visit shipyards and suppliers. Therefore, it is essential that you have a keen interest in meticulous planning at shipyards for the projects where you are involved.

Your role

  • You proactively initiate preparation/maintenance of project budgets with Project Managers, challenge assumptions made and monitor actual versus budget and monitor the progress (including cash flows, claims, variation orders, etc.) of ongoing projects and discuss progress and forecasts with the Project Director / Project Manager;

  • You identify, manage, and report risks, deadlines/contractual obligations (especially financial obligations) and monitor and manage progress, cash flows, claims, and variation orders.

  • You are responsible for timely delivery of project results for monthly and quarterly reports, including project forecasts for the financial reporting and communication of early warnings on financial risks and results;

  • You collect, monitor and analyse relevant financial and project data to identify improvements and trends;

  • You develop, implement and enhance relevant procedures and processes in close cooperation with the relevant teams to increase efficiency;

  • You control and monitor project processes and documents when relevant (finance, tax, compliance, purchasing, subcontracts, audits, insurance, project risks, etc.);

  • You answer ad hoc reporting requests from management, business control, and/or other relevant stakeholders in the organisation.

Your track record

  • You have BSc. degree in a relevant discipline e.g. Economics or Business Administration;

  • You have 3+ years’ relevant project experience and affinity with a technical environment;

  • You have excellent communication skills at all organisational levels (finance, business management, operations) and an excellent command of the English language (written and spoken);

  • You embrace change and support others in adjusting to new ways of working;

  • You are persistent and proactive in pursuing (financial) project information needed to control projects;

  • You are a team player, you are accurate and have well developed analytical skills.
